The Data Platform Engineer is responsible for constructing data pipelines on a day to day basis and writing the logic during the various stages of the pipeline. 

 

AS Data Platform Engineer, you will...

 

Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.

  • Develop and build data infrastructures and leveraging tools that allow data flow pipelines to be built for data science and business user consumption.
  • Write CloudFormation scripts to enable automated infrastructure setup; write integration code where necessary
  • Leverage APIs to integrate SaaS and PaaS components of the data platform
  • Collaborate with product development and data science teams to solve challenging business and technical problems 
  • Deploy data pipeline jobs created using best practices for ingesting surrounding ecosystem of products such as Snowflake, S3, Neo4J, RDBMS, NoSQL, etc.
  • Document deployment architectures pipeline coding best practices

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in information systems, computer science, engineering or other relevant discipline AND
  • 5 years’ experience in data platform development across several ETL/DW platforms OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses: AWS Solutions Architect Certification a plus.

Other Required Qualifications: 

  • Detail oriented, capable of envisioning edge-cases that are likely to happen in the real data sets 
  • Aware of software engineering / DevOps best practices (Source control & branching patterns, automated testing, automated deployments) 
  •  Ideally capable of writing data transformations in code, but in some organizations may utilize a GUI tool 
  • Experience in AWS cloud platform infrastructure development and deployment
  • Strong understanding of modern CI / CD practices and principles, with experience in Jenkins development preferred
  • Strong understanding of DataOps principles
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time
  • Ability to pass required background check

Desired Qualifications:  

  • Familiarity with Streamsets, Alation, Snowflake, Power BI
