For over 20 years, Gorilla has been devising, creating, and implementing commerce experiences. We’re a client-driven culture, looking for resourceful, motivated, and talented individuals to help us exceed our client’s expectations at every turn. We offer a challenging and rewarding environment where you’ll have the opportunity to work with leading brands, collaborate with some of the brightest people in the industry, and share in our mutual success.

The Data Science Analyst is a technical data practitioner who can manage, enhance, support, and leverage a large data value chain across several datasets and programmatic solutions. This requires knowledge and execution of best-practice data ingestion, querying, cleansing, and archiving, as well as machine learning model development. Results from the analyses and data solutions generated by this role help our internal and client stakeholders to fully process and understand data insights and optimizations across our core eCommerce workstreams, including online marketing, content, catalog, supply chain, and more.

The role involves equal exposure and requirements for data ingestion, validating, querying, visualizing, and modeling for data science prediction and machine learning.  Daily level reporting needs are delivered through several dashboards managed on top of cloud servers and robust databases that are leveraged and partially managed by this role.

What you’ll be doing

    • Develop basic data models and leverage advanced predictive analytics and techniques to interpret key findings from datasets that bridge into insights and initiatives that support client business goals.
    • Programmatically acquire and archive data from multiple retailer data sources to be leveraged for other modelling, analytics reporting, data visualizations, and custom analyses.
    • Develop and support web-crawl and auto-ingestion Python scripts while helping identify and implement incremental solutions that further automate our data products and services.
    • Grow in proficiency with our tech stack that includes MySQL databases, AWS cloud servers, Python scripts, and dashboards published to Power BI, Google Analytics, and Looker.
    • Ensure data accuracy and quality control through validation of key analyses and metrics, support root cause troubleshooting and fixing data discrepancies in databases and dashboards.
    • Build and support client-facing custom dashboards in Power BI, Looker, and Google Analytics for recurring report access and dynamic data visualizations.
    • Develop or support retail API connections and endpoints, codes updates, and assist with SQL server maintenance, updates, and migrations.
    • Work with internal account leads and client teams on their reporting and analysis requests and ongoing analytics improvements as needed.
    • Efficiently prioritize work to supplement weekly and monthly reporting and insights with ad-hoc analysis, as well as refreshing or retiring stale dashboards.
    • Identify and implement internal process improvements to automate or optimize manual processes, data delivery, and design/support of the data infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
    • Research and recommend new tools and methods that may improve our overall analytics practice.

You should bring to the table

    • 2-5 years of advanced proficiency with dashboard development and data relationship mapping implementations in Power BI (preferred), Tableau, Looker, or Google Data Studio.
    • 2-4 years of experience with building and sharing analytics reporting across relevant industries, including eCommerce, cross-retail media, digital marketing, content analytics, and/or and supply chain KPIs
    • 1-2 years of experience in statistical computer languages (R, Python, and SQL), including common statistical tools and model development: correlation, regression, forecasts, machine learning algorithms, cluster analysis, decision trees, neural networks, etc.
    • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams remotely and in different geographical locales.
    • Excellent written and verbal skills for transcribing documentation and translating complex analytical concepts to non-analytical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

    • Previous eCommerce-focused data management role with leading online retailers or major brands, including direct-to-consumer, third-party sellers, or third-party analytics providers.
    • Associate's Degree or higher, preferably in data science, information management, computer science, programming, math, or other analytical fields.
