About ClimateAi

ClimateAi is on a mission to climate-proof the economy while aiming for zero loss of lives, livelihoods and nature. We use AI to predict the risk of climate change, water and biodiversity. We then generate actionable insights that help stakeholders build strategies for their operations, supply chain planning, and regulatory disclosures.
We are a fast-growing Series-B company with its roots in the dorms of Stanford University. The platform was in TIME's Best Inventions list for 2022. We're seeking an innovative, passionate, team-oriented Chief of Staff to join our growing team.

Culture

Everyone at ClimateAi is driven by a united passion to tackle climate change. We don't sell to customer accounts that we see as negatively impacting climate outcomes. We believe in a culture of absolute truth and transparency, where feedback is considered an opportunity for us to contribute to each other's personal and professional growth. We recognize the value of diversity and are an equal opportunity employer.

About the Role

    • We are a young startup, looking for a passionate candidate who can contribute to our mission to deploy impactful solutions to the most important issue of our generation. Our focus will be on developing climate resilience tools for various sectors, with agriculture as our initial market. We have an opening for a data scientist to work at the intersection of environmental modeling, climate change, and machine learning.
    • Also, the candidate will be working on shaping the vision of the company with the founders and building a brand around climate sustainability. We hire people who are collaborative, adaptable, communicate well, and love to learn.

Main Responsibilities:

    • The candidate will primarily work on the development of our operational weather and climate prediction product. This involves wrangling and combining several data streams from different sources such as web APIs, 2D and 3D climate datasets, satellite data, etc. Further, there will be an active research component looking at how to constantly improve our product through advanced machine learning techniques.
    • The candidate will be supervised by our senior data scientist and work in close collaboration with the software engineering team. Familiarity with a range of techniques and tools to process data in Python is a requirement. Experience with packaging and modularizing Python code is a plus.
    • The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with a close team in a fast-paced environment. Communicating between climate scientists and software engineers will be crucial. Expect to give and receive constructive criticism as we foster a highly dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative work environment focused on rapid learning and adaptation. While we are interested in all qualified applicants, the position is well suited for someone with a BS/MS in a relevant field and demonstrated strong coding skills.
    • Work will be remote. Any location within a US/European time zone is possible.

Preferred Qualifications:

    • BS/MS in computer science, applied math, physics or environmental science
    • Experience handling data in Python: Pandas, xarray, numpy, etc.
    • Familiarity with environmental or geographical data
    • Familiarity with basic concepts of statistics/machine learning
    • Experience writing packaged Python code
    • Experience with Git and working on the cloud
    • Most importantly, candidate must have a passion for working on tackling issues at the cutting edge of climate change adaptation and resilience.
We are an equal-opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
