JOB TITLE: Data Scientist

JOB DUTIES: Full-time role.  The Data Scientist will research and apply the use of artificial intelligence, machine learning, data models, and other algorithms to modernize the procurement process in manufacturing, transforming data into meaningful business information in the manufacturing procurement space. Duties include:

A.Use data to create insights and models which improve search and optimization algorithms in manufacturing procurement. This includes: (i) Employ software to process and analyze large data sets, refining and ensuring usability of raw process data. This includes using SQL to develop complex queries. (ii) Develop machine learning models by working with deep learning frameworks using database user interface software and operating systems software, including Keras, and using development software, including Python or R, to model outcomes in manufacturing procurement field and propose solutions to manufacturing procurement inefficiencies. (iii) Continuously improve models, comparing performance of various manufacturing procurement model options and continuously testing and validating existing models to improve performance. (iv) Create ontologies to efficiently and effectively store manufacturing processes and parts existential information. (v) Design, maintain, and automate data reports using data analysis tools.

 

B. Be part of the research and development team creating new innovations that power company’s software tools. This includes: (i) Identify product features which can be created and/or improved through use of data models. (ii) Keep abreast of Industry 4.0 and industrial internet of things (IIoT) trends and look for opportunities for expansion of company’s analytical platforms. (iii) Work with subject matter experts to translate experience into algorithms and identify new opportunities for use of data science and artificial intelligence in the manufacturing procurement field.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or closely related field and 12 months (1 year) of experience in any post-bachelor’s position (can be pre-Master’s) in which required professional experience was acquired.  Professional experience must include: Using SQL to develop complex queries; developing machine learning models by using development software, including Python or R; using machine learning, statistics, and/or computational algorithms to propose solutions to process engineering or manufacturing inefficiencies or problems; designing, maintaining, and automating data reports using data analysis tools, including Tableau, TensorFlow or Hadoop; working with deep learning frameworks using database user interface software and operating systems software, including Keras; implementing data science analytic techniques and solutions derived from emerging academic research; work with natural language processing and natural language understanding.
