Position Description:
Hangar is seeking candidates for Data Scientist to be located in New York, NY (or remotely within the United States). At Hangar, we work as a team of product managers, designers, engineers and data scientists to support our portfolio companies get off the ground from seed stage, providing tactical support for product development. The companies span healthcare, natural disaster response, and location intelligence for infrastructure utilization. Each one of these presents interesting and complex data science challenges. Hangar is looking for candidates that can work closely with portfolio companies to help them develop their data science strategy and solutions. The ideal candidate is a strong data scientist, a critical thinker and a good communicator who is passionate about mission-driven work for public good. Us: 
-We move quickly and deliver amazing tools and products with our portfolio companies.
-We work closely across our organization and portfolio companies to frame and tackle goals, both mathematically and within the business context.
-We determine and gather the right data to generate meaningful analyses and mathematically sound predictive models.
-We partner with product and engineering to deliver platforms for our analytics and data science solutions.
-We design and run statistically sound experiments to uncover predictors of performance.
-We collaborate and communicate with stakeholders to share rationale and findings from models and analyses.

You: 
-M.S. or Ph.D. in Statistics, Operations Research, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other quantitative field. (Ph.D. preferred)
-2+ years of industry experience delivering successful and innovative machine learning products both in scope and on time.
-Strong skills in statistical languages (e.g. Python/R) and querying languages (e.g. SQL).
-Demonstrated ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, collecting requirements and interfacing with other teams. 
-Experience in production-level coding, especially in cloud environments is a plus.
-Excited to work across startups, wearing multiple hats while staying focused on the most important deliverables
