We’re looking for someone to join VRChat’s Data team as a Data Scientist to continue to improve and transform our expanding platform. In this role, you will tackle unique challenges on the frontier of multiverse experiences by bridging our product development and marketing efforts. You will work within our analytics stack to monitor, analyze, and find trends in user behavior to help ideate, test, and deploy new product features and user experiences to better the experience for our users.

You will work closely with product, operations, and policy teams to identify areas of strategic growth, devise plans on how to capitalize on those opportunities and help execute. Your ultimate goal as part of the data team will be to enable the entire VRChat team and worldwide community to craft incredible immersive social experiences.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Analyze large, complex datasets to derive actionable insights and findings.
• Utilize statistical analysis, data mining, and data visualization techniques to understand product performance, customer behavior, and market trends.
• Work closely with engineering, design, marketing, and sales teams to ensure alignment of data science activities with broader company goals.
• Design dashboards to allow real-time access to KPIs against established objectives across the organization.
• Gain a deep understanding of VRChat users and their cohort-based journeys and psychology to most effectively drive active user scale and loyalty.
• Work with product teams to design and analyze A/B tests to evaluate the impact of changes in the product, interpreting the results and providing insights to guide future product developments.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and ethical standards in data handling, prioritizing user privacy and data security.

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
• 5+ years of relevant experience at high-growth companies.
• Demonstrated interest in and understanding of VR and online communities.
• A well-versed storyteller with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience using event-based data to derive actionable insights.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with large structured and unstructured datasets.
• Familiarity with cloud-based databases and data warehouse solutions (e.g. Snowflake, Redshift, MongoDB).
• Experience with SAAS Product analytics tools (e.g. Amplitude, Google Analytics, Heap, Mixpanel).
• Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, Excel, Matplotlib, Seaborn).
• Ability to communicate and collaborate across all functional teams and contribute to product design, development, and go-to-market strategy.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment that required balancing competing priorities throughout the entire product lifecycle.
• Highly-organized and effectively able to hit deliverable deadlines with high-quality output and outcomes.
• Experience working with large quantities of data and utilizing it to make informed and strategic decisions.
• Self-starter with an independent drive that can successfully follow through on initiatives.
• Ability to act fast and adapt to quickly changing situations.
• Professionalism and integrity.

• Experience in social platforms or social gaming.
• A basic level of understanding of Unity 3D.
