We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Strategy and Governance Architect with strong business analysis and product-owner skills to join our Strategy & Governance team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Agile Product Ownership and Business Analysis in a Data Lakehouse environment.  

The consultant will also have experience in the functional aspects of Data Governance, hands-on expertise implementing Microsoft Purview, and demonstrated business acumen and facilitation skills. 

The ideal candidate will have consulting experience in customer-faced roles and success leading technical and economic value discussions with senior client executives, including C-suite, that drive key decisions and implementation. 

Certifications in Microsoft Purview and Profisee, or other data governance related tools is a plus. 

Responsibilities 

  • Product Ownership / Business Analysis
  • Lead requirements as an Agile Product Owner, steering product vision and backlog prioritization to align with business objectives within Data Lakehouse / Data Warehouse-related projects.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring their needs are effectively communicated to the development team.
  • Continuously assess and adjust priorities in response to changing business needs and market conditions.
  • Regularly assess project risks and mitigation strategies to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Provide strong Business Analyst support, gathering and documenting requirements, workflows, and processes to bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions within Data Lakehouse / Data Warehouse-related projects.
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand and document their requirements.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of data and reporting needs for business users to inform the development of comprehensive user stories and functional specifications.
  • Actively participate in testing activities, troubleshooting issues, and facilitating communication between development and testing teams.
  • Data Governance
  • Provide expert guidance on data governance issues, including data quality, metadata management, and data lifecycle management.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to promote data governance best practices and foster a culture of data-driven decision-making.
  • Conduct workshops and training sessions to enhance the organization's data governance capabilities.
  • Develop and implement client data governance frameworks, including policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Facilitate the adoption of Microsoft Purview within the organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance requirements.
  • General Consulting
  • Leverage facilitation skills to lead sessions with senior executives, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making.
  • Actively develop client relationships at all levels
  • Work independently or lead a team to design and develop solutions
  • Provide meaningful feedback and coaching of other team members to successfully overcome technological challenges

Requirements 

  • 5+ years consulting experience to include Product Ownership, Business Analysis, and data platform involvement. 
  • Product Ownership / Business Analysis
  • Demonstrated success in Agile Product Ownership, with a track record of delivering value-driven product outcomes, including backlog management, prioritization, and stakeholder communication.
  • Strong business analysis skills, with the ability to perform requirements gathering, process mapping, and data analysis.
  • Exceptional meeting facilitation skills and the ability to engage and influence senior-level stakeholders.
  • Ability to run workshops with business stakeholders leveraging methodologies such as Design Thinking.
  • Solid understanding of Data Lakehouse and Data Warehouse architectures, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Data Governance
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate data governance initiatives into business value.
  • Hands-on experience with the implementation of data catalogs (Microsoft Purview) and MDM (Profisee) solutions, preferably in diverse industry settings.
  • Proven experience in implementing Data Governance programs to include CoE’s, role definition, policy development, and overall process review and creation.
