Position Title: Director, Data, Analytics, & Artificial Intelligence (M4)

Role:
As the Director, Data, Analytics, & Artificial Intelligence (AI), you will have the chance to build and deploy solutions that drive tangible business value. This pivotal role will be responsible for driving Crown Castle’s data, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping our data strategy, implementing cutting-edge analytics capabilities, and harnessing AI to drive value, innovation, and new scope, reach, and scale as part of the Company’s digital transformation.
Responsibilities
- Tangibly accelerate Crown Castle’s business strategy with the application of analytics, data science, and AI
- Build, evangelize and execute an ambitious, inspiring vision and strategy for using AI, data science, and analytics at Crown Castle,
- Collaborate with Data & Digital leadership and key business stakeholders on a regular basis earning a reputation as a thought-leader in building data, analytics and AI solutions.
- Identify opportunities to use data, analytics, and AI to drive desired outcomes in solving high-value business problems and seizing impactful opportunities.
- Build, deploy, operationalize, and scale custom AI and analytics products that fit the business needs.
- Leverage AI and analytics capabilities built into third party platforms like ServiceNow and Amazon Web Service (AWS) to accelerate value in our digital transformation.
- Mature and scale AI and analytics capabilities across Crown Castle
- Data lifecycle, data governance, and data model definition: Work with business leaders and Product Management to effectively embed AI and analytics use cases into all digital products at Crown. Data Platform: In partnership with software engineering and platform engineering teams, contribute to building the data platform to enable effective treatment of data as an asset through the end-to-end data lifecycle.
- Build Data Products: Define curated data sets that cover critical data domains for the business, including Crown’s asset and customer domains, with the goal of accelerating the digital transformation and the use of analytics, AI, and BI use cases. With software engineering, build and maintain core data products.
- AI and analytics capabilities: Define skills, processes and best practices, technology, and tools necessary for building data science, AI and analytics products to ensure business value is delivered, though the operationalization phase.
- Bring in and/or build know-how in cutting edge AI and data science technologies
- Including Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Optical Character Recognition, and text analysis and Natural Language Processing, among others.
- A learning focus for newer AI technologies like Generative AI to quickly define how they can be helpful to Crown Castle’s goals via experimentation and prototyping. .
- Lead a team of Analytics Product Managers, Analysts, Data Science, and AI professionals. Set strategic direction for the team, including leadership and technical skills development, capacity planning and individual development to deliver comprehensive solutions and value propositions
- Contribute to the overall leadership of the Data & Digital team effectively collaborating across functions, building an effective culture, and modeling leadership values and behaviors of the team.
Education/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, information technology, or equivalent experience
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Business Administration preferred
Experience/Minimum Requirements
- 10+ years’ leading teams in the applications of data, analytics, and AI to create business value, solve high-impact problems, and seize game-changing opportunities for a company or industry is required
- Deep understanding of treating data as an asset, enriching data and turning it into strategic intelligence for a comprehensive view of past, present, and future, and making it accessible across an enterprise
- Strong expertise in analytics, data visualization, machine learning, and AI techniques, including the latest applications of deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, large language models, stable diffusion and more.
- Ability to build and coach high performing teams, including end to end talent management from hiring to learning & development, and leadership coaching.
- Proficiency in cloud, big data technologies, systems, aggregation, platforms, and their use for development of digital and AI products
- Strong experience in and/or ability to quickly learn AWS Data Services (Redshift, ElasticSearch, S3, API Gateway, Lambda, etc) and third-party tools such as Informatica, Collibra, Databricks, PowerBI, etc.
- Strong technical and in-depth knowledge of data mining, machine learning, statistical modeling, and programming languages such as Python or R
- Strong business focus and acumen
- Excellent executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex data and AI concepts and translate data and model outcomes into actionable recommendations to non-technical stakeholders
- Strategic mindset with the ability to align data, analytics and AI initiatives with an organization’s strategic vision, goals and objectives
- Experience with the agile mindset and adapting it to the development of data science and AI products.
Working Conditions: This is a remote role with the expectation of on-site collaboration with teammates and stakeholders for moments that matter. Travel up to 20% may be required.
For New York, Colorado, California, and Washington residents: The hiring range offered for this position is $200,000 - $220,000 annually. In addition to salary, employees are eligible for an annual bonus of up to 35% of annual salary and restricted stock. Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 23 days of paid time off each year and 12 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
