The Global Supply Chain Operations Intelligence (OI) Team rapidly develops and deploys new innovations to improve existing processes and enable new capabilities to allow for more precise and synchronized inventory flow from end to end. A role on our team means being central to the Global Supply Chain synchronization and problem solving. This team enables the GSCL functional teams to operate as an integrated supply chain to deliver on the evolving needs of the business. Specifically, this team connects problem solving across functions to manage total GSCL health and connects solutions to maintain that health throughout the year.

The Operations Intelligence (OI) team leverages business experience, thought leadership, and analytical acumen to manage cross-functional problems for the global supply chain. This role is positioned to connect business challenges and drive solutions across functional teams through the network steering routines. These routines and the data that powers them is critical to maintaining a balanced and efficient supply chain in the wake of disruptions. The OI team provides an ideal opportunity to work within a highly collaborative, cross functional team managing complex solutions and simultaneously working with leaders across operational teams. Your specific expertise—whether it is problem definition, stakeholder management, or connective problem solving —will be felt well beyond the boundaries of the supply chain organization, positively impacting Target team members and guests alike.

About the Job:

The Target Data Analytics team creates metrics, models and data products to sustainably educate and enable our business partners to make great data-based decisions at Target.  We help develop the technology that personalizes the guest experience, from business operations to relevant guest experience.  We’re also the source of the data and analytics behind Target’s Supply Chain optimization, stores and demand forecast engine.  We play a key role in identifying the A/B testing opportunities that continuously help Target improve.

As a Director Data & Analytics – Supply Chain you’ll take the lead as you…

  • Work with the Supply Chain business to define a problem, find the requisite data and propose solutions based on data analysis
  • Lead a team of analyst, statisticians, and data science professionals providing strategic guidance on projects which build Target’s future leaders 
  • Understand and anticipate problems and move to solve them quickly
  • Create and automate reporting and insights at scale that informs and influences business decisions
  • Provide thought leadership in how we measure a business area from the code that we use to collect data all the way to the application of the insights you derive reports and analysis
  • Incorporate data based approaches to hold products and businesses accountable for results against goals and objectives
  • Effectively communicate and educate business leaders by leveraging data analysis, insights, testing and measurement
  • Influence business leaders, peers and technology partners to mature data foundations, analytics capabilities and mathematical applications that drive the business.

About You:

  • 4-year college degree (or equivalent experience)  
  • 10+ years of supply chain/logistics, retail operations experience, or equivalent domain experience
  • 2+ years of team leadership experience
  • Understand the Product model and ability to work and lead an Agile team
  • Influential - able to engage and negotiate with business leaders and teams
  • Inquisitive on Big Data technology – current on tools utilized in Data Science and Analytics
  • Good understanding of data structures and the design of algorithms
  • Good understanding of mathematical concepts and ability to grasp complex mathematics
  • Knowledge of at least one programming language including Python, R, SQL

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS in Applied Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Economics or other related quantitative field
  • Strong analytical skills including model development, hypothesis design and testing, and the ability to teach analytical concepts to others
  • Experience leading projects involving complex data sciences requirements, a variety of business stakeholders, and a team of analytics professionals with a variety of skills
  • Experience building data governance frameworks
  • Proven track record of learning new tools and technologies
  • Experience developing future leaders in a data rich environment

This position may be considered for a Full-Time Remote or Hybrid work arrangement based on Target’s needs.  A Hybrid work arrangement means the team members core role will be a blend of virtual and onsite at a Target location. A Full-Time Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that’s not a Target location, does not have a desk at their primary HQ work location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada residents is $119,500-$215,100. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Target cares about and invests in you as a team member, so that you can take care of yourself and your family.
