Job Description:

This position will report to the A3 TFA Lead and be part of the A3 technology office staff. You will be supporting an internal big data analytics application that will be hosted on cloud platforms and A3 custom capabilities. You will have prior experience working in an agile/DevOps environment. The hybrid role of Data Science Engineer is responsible for collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and leveraging extremely large structured and unstructured datasets to develop, operationalize, and apply analytical techniques, methods, tools, applications, and models that drive optimized decision making and solve complex business, public policy, national and homeland security problems and challenges. The role is also responsible for developing, constructing, testing and maintaining pertinent  architectures and large-scale processing systems, where analytical capabilities will operate, scale and cross pollinate across other TFAs.

Qualifications:

The Data Engineer will:

  • Provide database design, development and implementation support
  • Participate in daily scrum meetings and support development team  
  • Work with customers and team members in an Agile development environment
  • Follow Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) best practices for code build and deployments
  • Develop PL/SQL, stored procedures, ETL scrips to support this analytics application
  • Document database design and develop optimum data ingest techniques from multiple data sources
  • Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT or related field & minimum 5-7 years of QA experience
  • Minimum experience of 5 years with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, RedShift
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience with ETL technologies
  • Lead design thinking team discussions leveraging knowledge of neural networks, probability theory, stochastic systems, Bayesian inference, predictive modeling, supervised/unsupervised/deep learning schemas
  • Provides database design, development and implementation support
  • Participates in daily scrum meetings and support development team
  • Works with customers and team members in an Agile development environment
  • Follows Continuous. Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) best practices for code build and deployments across data architectures
  • Develops PL/SQL, stored procedures, ETL scripts to support dynamic analytics applications
  • Spearhead SQL/NoSQL database wrangling and build/maintain ETL pipelines
  • Leads database design and develops optimum data ingest techniques from multiple data sources for hyperscale analytics capabilities
  • Leads and perform hands-on data exploration, analysis and modeling involving the creation of intervention hypotheses and experiments, assessment of data needs and available sources, determination of optimal analytical approaches, performance of exploratory data analysis, and feature generation (e.g., identification, derivation, aggregation)
  • Extracts, collects, manipulates, categorizes, reconditions, recompiles, and transforms data (from structured and unstructured, labelled and unlabeled datasets) associated within an identified problem space for use in predictive modeling
  • Identifies patterns and/or anomalies in large datasets and transform data into an informational advantage for decision support
  • Performs automated text/data classification and categorization as well as entity recognition, resolution and extraction
  • Defines, develops and programs unsupervised and supervised machine learning algorithms

Additional Preferred Experience, any combination below – not limited to:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a large and complex big data environment
  • Experience with data ingestion and processing techniques with outputs that are insightful and actionable, to include visualization, data lakes and data warehouses to develop strategies
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of neural networks, probability theory, stochastic systems, Bayesian inference, predictive modeling, supervised/unsupervised/deep learning
  • Proficiency in C/C++, Java, Python, R, JavaScript, SAS, MatLab, SPSS
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization and cloud technologies

Preferred:

  • Experience with software framework for distributed data such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, NoSQL
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Caffe, MXNet
  • Knowledge of natural language processing, IOT and AIOps
  • Logical problem-solving approach and the ability to clearly communicate the situation and proposed solution to the customer
  • Strong technical writing skills and the ability to assist the sales team and business groups with requests for quotes / information
  • Ability to create technical drawings, architectural products and concept graphics
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present in a group setting; ability to facilitate and conduct webinars and presentations to customers, including conceptual design and white boarding sessions
  • Projects a professional image and strong business acumen during customer interactions
  • Possesses a sense of urgency, strong organizational and follow up skills

Additional skills:
Experience with deep Data Science and Analytics. Experienced in using Jira, Git, Confluence, Knowledge and understanding of big data technologies like Hadoop, Hive, etc., Ability to handle stress and work well under pressure, Ability to use MS Office, Experience with cloud technologies, Analytical and Critical Thinking Skills, Interpersonal and People Skills, Leadership Skills, Listening Skills, Multitasking Ability, Oral and Written Communication Skills, Organizational Skills

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and uphold a TS/ SCI.

Public Trust (preferred); Secret (preferred); Top Secret (preferred).

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to be in a stationary position more than 50% of the time 
  • Must be able to communicate, converse, and exchange information with peers and senior personnel 
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a computer 
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations 
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
