Your role at Clorox:

Clorox is undergoing a remarkable transformation in its data and technology capabilities and culture to propel purpose-driven business growth. We are searching for a dynamic leader to spearhead this endeavor, someone who can construct and integrate innovative predictive data science solutions into pivotal decision-making moments. This visionary individual will enhance the everyday experiences of our employees, customers, and consumers, while also enabling faster informed decisions, streamlined operations, and the exploration of new value streams.

In this role, you will:

Lead the implementation of AI/ML-based modeling engines to drive advanced integrated business planning capability

  • Partner with cross-functional business teams, Data Architecture and Engineering to design, develop, and deploy AI/ML models to deliver highly interpretable forecasts and productionize the capability across all business units based on ML Ops process
  • Translate requirements into necessary technologies and development plan, guide the application of leading AI/ML practices in building and deploying scalable business solutions
  • Direct a team of data scientists and ML engineers to navigate, collaborate, and deliver production-grade code in a complex industrialized code base
  • Oversee implementation, testing, and post-production maintenance of AI/ML models
  • Manage project timeline and achieve milestones

Elevate Enterprise Data Science capabilities

  • Monitor external data science trends, identify opportunities and implications, and proactively develop best-in-class processes and techniques to leverage data science across consumer touchpoints and business operations
  • Partner with business and functional stakeholders to ideate, define, and prioritize high impact data science use cases and initiatives for the Company
  • Promote data science adoption across the Company through training, events, and consulting

Coach and develop enterprise and functional data science talents

  • Attract, develop, and retain Enterprise Data Science team members; Coordinate data science talent management across functions, including career pathing, capability planning, and collaborative talent planning
  • Lead a team of Data Scientists, manage their capacity deployment, oversee the output from their work in terms of content, quality, and timeline, establish and steer collective and individual performance objectives
  • Provide guidance to data scientists on analytical and modeling choices to support their day-to-day activities

What we look for:

  • 10 plus years of experience in business-facing data science and analytics roles
  • 3 plus years as an established leader of data science teams that successfully delivered data-driven solutions and in production settings (This role REQUIRES experience managing direct reports.)
  • Demonstrated ability to establish vision and strategy and lead implementation
  • Track record of delivering analytics products and insights, and influencing business decisions
  • Ability to provide technical leadership across a variety of capabilities for business applications and commercial experience in building machine learning models in production settings
  • Deep understanding and experience with advanced statistics, time series forecasting, machine-learning models, and model architecture design & execution; experience in optimization / operations research is a plus
  • Deep hands-on experience in building machine-learning models and ML Ops processes in a business context
  • Experience in building modern data science pipelines and deploying them to cloud environments, including data pipelines that ETL data from multiple sources
  • Proven experience supervising others developing industrialized data & modeling pipelines
  • Expertise with open-source data science and statistics packages, including machine learning and deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn, Pandas, statsmodels, etc.)
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python required; Pyspark / R / Scala a plus
  • Knowledge of standard SDLC process and DevOps including version-control (Github/svn) and CI/CD
  • Experience working with cloud and big data ecosystems (Azure/GCP/AWS, Spark, Hive, DataBricks)
  • Experience using visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) is a plus
  • Knowledge of demand forecasting and supply chain operations is a plus
  • Excellent communications skills: Ability to synthesize, simplify, and explain complex problems to different audiences across functions and levels; Ability to convey insight through storytelling
  • Self-starter comfortable with ambiguity: Problem solver; Able to identify needs, develop a plan of action, and implement; Excellent time and project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship building, and influence skills
  • Demonstrated ability to attract, hire, coach, and inspire talent
  • Master’s or PhD degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related quantitative discipline. Specialization or coursework in Data Science / ML / AI preferred

We use broad salary ranges that reflect the competitive market for similar jobs, provide sufficient opportunity for growth as you gain experience and expand responsibilities, while also allowing for differentiation based on performance. Based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at Clorox in the first half of the applicable range. Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience and location. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.

–Zone A: $138,100 - $277,400

–Zone B: $126,600 - $254,300

–Zone C: $115,100 - $231,200

This job is also eligible for participation in Clorox’s incentive plans, subject to the terms of the applicable plan documents and policies.
