Looma exists to bring transparency, humanity, and responsibility to advertising and commerce. We do so by connecting shoppers to the people and stories behind their favorite brands and informing their purchasing decisions.
Our first product, Loop™, is a network of in-store screens that play short videos focused on storytelling and education. The content for this network is powered by our second product, Relay™️, a marketplace of filmmakers who specialize in point-of-decision video in food & bev.
Position Summary
Looma’s small and mighty Data Science team builds out scalable data products, delivers critical business insights, and develops sophisticated machine learning models.
We’re looking for our team’s next addition to take our machine learning and insights to the next level. You’ll work on projects such as:
- Modeling customer behavior using our rich retailer transaction log data
- Discovering what makes films effective using computer vision data
- Building on top of the existing inferential sales lift modeling and ML Ops

Tech Stack:
- Data Science work relies heavily on the R ecosystem, including the tidyverse, Shiny, Plumber APIs, and Posit Connect.
- Data pipelines use dbt and Fivetran.
- Data warehouse is in Google BigQuery.
- Internal data is available via GraphQL API.
- External data is extracted and loaded using GC Functions and Storage.
- The broader technical stack is GCP-centric and relies on Golang and Typescript.
The responsibilities for this role can be split into three primary categories:
- Statistical modeling and advanced analytics: 60%
- Machine learning ops development and management: 30%
- Consulting on other Data Science projects: 10%
Attributes
- Applied experience with scalable machine learning in a business context
- Preferably in a CPG, retail, or retail media context
- Preferably with customer-centric models (ex: value, journey, retention)
- Experience using or building ML ops management solutions
- Respect for the practices that make for robust analytics (cross-validation, version control, testing, package development, commenting, etc.)
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic startup environment with a wide variety of analytics projects
- Soft skills to match the rest of the team: enthusiasm, curiosity, and empathy
- Ability to translate data needs to an analytics engineering team
- Experience programming with R and the Posit ecosystem is a bonus but not a requirement
Structure & Compensation
Looma will provide a competitive compensation package consisting of base salary and stock options. All Looma compensation packages include cash / equity flexibility (i.e. you can opt for more equity and less cash or vice-versa).
