At Lovelytics we love to solve real problems with big data. We work with clients from all over to help them understand their data and make better decisions... and we're looking for people to join us!

As a Machine Learning Engineer Consultant,  you'll be introduced to the world of Databricks and ML at Lovelytics.  Ideally, you have the foundational knowledge in coding and computer science that will allow you to get rapid immersion in the field of technology consulting. You'll have the opportunity to work closely with experienced engineers, data scientists, and consultants to sharpen your technical skills and get exposure to working with exciting organizations.

In case you're wondering...

For us, the ML Engineering role reflects our experiences in applying computer science and data science concepts at a true enterprise scale. Solving strategic business problems with technology requires a breadth of knowledge, the ability to put on different hats for different jobs, and a willingness to get your hands dirty with technical implementation.

Lovelytics consultants who are willing to take on this challenge will develop a skill set to differentiate themselves from a sea of junior developers and “Bootcamp” data scientists.

Responsibilities

  • Always be learning. Within the first month, you will be expected to start earning credentials that will demonstrate your qualifications to our client base and partners.
  • Work with agility and wear many hats in a scrappy, entrepreneurial environment. Depending on the day you may be tasked with complex distributed systems problems, or data science analytics.
  • Problem solve independently and deliver collaboratively. You will be expected to handle abstract problems with loosely defined parameters, while also working with a team on a common mission.
  • Become Databricks certified in various areas to work direct with the client
  • Use tools like Apache Spark and frameworks such as Hadoop to solve big data problems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • A passion for Big Data
  • “Conversational” proficiency in any programming language. You will be asked to share your “real world” experiences with your language of choice, and interviews will have a basic coding component.
  • Fundamental understanding of databases and distributed systems – classic challenges, patterns, and frameworks. You don’t necessarily have experience with Spark, but you understand the basic concepts that it is built on.
  • Experience with any or all of the following- Hadoop, Pyspark, apache-spark, Hive, Yarn
  • Fundamental understanding of machine learning. You haven’t necessarily won a Kaggle competition, but know what it means when someone talks about “training a model”.
  • Strong spoken and written English communication skills. You will be expected to communicate effectively with highly technical and also non-technical stakeholders.

What Makes Us Excited About a Candidate

  • You have a positive attitude coupled with excellent communication skills.
  • Your entrepreneurial spirit pushes you to find creative solutions for our clients
  • You are motivated by providing superior solutions and disrupting the status quo.
