Position Summary:

To support AccuWeather’s continued focus on innovation and generating superior weather products, we are seeking an ambitious leader to take on the role of Manager for our Data Engineering Team, with a specific emphasis on exceptional people and project management skills. As the Manager, you will lead a dynamic team of data engineers, overseeing projects, fostering team collaboration, and ensuring the successful execution of data initiatives. This role requires a strong combination of technical acumen, leadership capabilities, and a passion for cultivating a high-performing team. 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership: Provide effective leadership and mentorship to the Data Engineering Team.
  2. Project Management: Support project management for data engineering initiatives, ensuring timelines, objectives, and quality standards are met using agile/kanban.
  3. Resource Planning: Efficiently allocate resources, manage workloads, and ensure the team's capacity aligns with project demands.
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other teams across the organization to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable data engineering projects.
  5. Performance Reviews: Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support the professional development of team members.
  6. Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate project status, risks, and timelines to stakeholders, fostering transparency and alignment with organizational goals.

Qualifications:

  1. Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related Science or Technology field.
  2. Experience:
    • Proven experience (2 years) in leading and managing data engineering teams.
    • Strong background in data engineering, ETL processes, and project management.
  3. Leadership Skills:
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
    • Ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
  4. Project Management: Demonstrated success in project management, including planning, execution, and delivery.
  5. Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  6. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on efficiency and project success.
  7. Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and navigate through ambiguity.
  8. People Development: Proven experience in coaching and developing team members to enhance their skills and career growth.
