Impact in this Role

The Data Engineering & Analytics team develops a centralized data warehouse and produces reports and dashboards for Fictiv, that are to provide strategic insights that impact multiple functional areas including: Operations, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Product, Architecture, and Customer Support. The Data & Analytics team partners closely with cross functional stakeholders to ensure that data is accurate, timely, secure and has properly managed change control.

This team sets the stage for ensuring Fictiv's business is delivering on KPIs and goals. This team provides all the inputs for Fictiv’s strategic decision making.

Objective / Purpose of the Position

The Data Engineering & Analytics team creates reports and dashboards to provide meaningful insights from the data warehouse. This team works very closely with cross-functional stakeholders, and leverages multiple different Business Intelligence (BI) technologies to achieve these goals.

As the Manufacturing Operations Data Analyst for the data team, you will support the Data Engineering & Analytics Director, Lead Data Analyst, Data Engineers, Data Analysts and other cross functional stakeholders in the everyday understanding of our data warehouse and Sigma reporting.  You will serve as a driver between the business and technology in understanding the business problems that need to be solved and explain the technical requirements to other data engineers.  This is a ‘hands on’ role and is responsible for leading the collaboration with cross-functional peers to build dashboards and reports to monitor progress, answer business questions, and ensure key management reports are available and accurate.  You will create tools in SigmaComputing and Heap for business users to explore data and make data-driven decisions.

You will be responsible for collecting and understanding requirements, working with the team to create implementation plans, and providing thought leadership for all data reporting solutions to meet and exceed customer expectations.  You will mentor and shepherd best practices amongst the extended cross functional teams to ensure appropriate hygiene of Fictiv’s reporting environments and to allow users to be self-sufficient.

You will partner with the Lead Data Analyst and Global GMs to support and scale our analytics. You will collaborate with peer Engineering technical leads in many different disciplines, Product Owners and Business Analysts to drive workflows and with stakeholders to understand and measure company goals.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the Business Requirement gathering, planning, and delivery of multiple operational projects.
  • Subject Matter Expert on all data models, reports, dashboards and reporting techniques.
  • Create reports and dashboards from the data warehouse that deliver value to business stakeholders while meeting critical project deadlines.
  • Partner with GMs or manufacturing operational leads and management to support manufacturing planning and execution across the global manufacturing organization.
  • Standardize and implement operational best practices with local and global operations teams and create a center of excellence.
  • Participates in brainstorming and discussion sessions to help development teams better understand and utilize data technologies and answer product-focused questions via data analysis and storytelling.
  • Assist Product Managers in ensuring data model additions are accounted for by data team development plans, and appropriate reports are updated.
  • Assist with broad direction and vision, influence engineering and business strategy, and establish practices to efficiently and effectively address customer needs
  • Collaborate with Engineering to ensure production database changes to event implementations are gracefully handled in the data warehouse.
  • Collaborate with the Data team, providing design guidance, best practices guidance, mentoring and training where needed, to produce a data warehouse with reliable, stable, accurate data.
  • Will use a combination of business analyst and technical skills to deliver reports and analysis for multiple projects accurately and timely. 
  • Write documentation for stakeholders on any of the reports or dashboards you create.
  • Enjoy working with remote teams and people that have strong opinions.

Abilities

  • Have proven experience working with large and complex datasets and are comfortable writing queries directly or utilizing BI tools. Experience with Snowflake, Sigma, and Heap is a bonus.
  • Working knowledge of data and analytics architecture, data warehousing concepts, and data integration best practices.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data to provide feedback on results and identify opportunities for improvement and potential areas of risk.
  • Ability to analyze external tools and compare to our current data stack and suggest a detailed solution plan.
  • Extensive knowledge of BI concepts and database query languages (i.e. SQL or Python),  dimensional modeling, data warehouse design, dashboarding).
  • Ability to build and optimize datasets, reports, and dashboards.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis on internal processes and data to identify opportunities for improvement and answer questions.
  • Excellent analytic skills associated with working with structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Ability to build processes that support data transformation, workload management, data structures, dependency and metadata.
  • You are a clear communicator.  You can provide business context for engineers as well as highlight technical challenges for non-engineers.
  • Ability to present to groups of mixed technical ability.
  • Comfortable not knowing answers, but resourceful and able to resolve issues. Willing to learn and understand new ways of doing things.
  • You will serve as an Advocate – In the role, you will solicit and listen to concerns, and take an active role in resolving problems. 
  • Ability to recommend actionable insights from projects and lead projects autonomously.
  • Ability to drive standards and best practices for a team or organization.
  • Excellent leadership and collaboration skills and the ability to lead large projects autonomously.

Travel: Ability to travel to remote sites in the US. (less than 25%).

Preferred Experience / Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. in Data Science, Data Analysis, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years experience as a Data Analyst using BI tools.
  • 1+ years of providing complex analysis reports in any one of manufacturing, operations, sourcing, logistics, user adoption or similar fields.
  • Experience with Snowflake, Redshift, Heap, Fivetran and SigmaComputing (or similar BI tools such as Tableau, Looker or Quicksight).
  • Proven experience working with complex datasets and writing SQL queries with multiple levels of CTEs directly.
  • Working knowledge of BI concepts (regressions, sliding window functions, operational metrics, end to end process metrics, logistics and fulfillment metrics).
  • Experience with leading and coordinating cross-functional initiatives, conducting interviews and performing analyses to create business cases for projects.
  • Experience performing live training sessions for internal and external stakeholders during system and process implementation.
  • Experience using Odoo or other ERP systems, Shipping Carrier, TMS or similar core business systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must have strong communication skills and possess the ability to interact effectively with co-workers.
  • Must have strong leadership skills.
