The Market Data team within the Crypto Data Foundation group is responsible for building out and operating a market data platform acting as a source of truth for Coinbase, serving data to our institutional clients as well as internal teams. As an engineer you will contribute to building an institutional grade market data platform, and you will interact with the full spectrum of our systems, from real-time data ingestion to scalable pipelines, tools and applications that make that data available to other teams and systems.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • Build the next iteration of our ingestion pipeline for scale, speed, and reliability with a strong focus on the ability to sail through the most volatile trading days
  • Bring crypto market data modeling to a standard on par with institutional finance datasets
  • Integrate with a variety of upstream APIs exposed by external entities in both batch and streaming fashion
  • Build tools allowing to ensure data correctness and completeness

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • Experience with handling market and financial instruments data in the crypto or banking/financial services industry
  • Experience in provisioning and delivering trading venue integration with knowledge of a variety of technologies
  • Data-oriented and product mindset
  • Experience building data backend systems at scale with parallel/distributed compute
  • Experience processing large amounts of structured and unstructured data, including aggregating data from multiple sources

Nice to haves:

  • Experience using data tools and frameworks like Kafka, Airflow, Postgres, time series databases
  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience with market data products such as Bloomberg or Refinitiv Eikon
  • Experience with crypto markets

  • Experience building API layers and microservices
  • Experience with AWS, and especially EMR, S3, Glue, Kinesis, IAM
  • Computer Science or related engineering degree
