Here's a summary of responsibilities:

Under the direction and supervision of the Senior Performance Data Analyst, develop, apply, and maintain data collection and management solutions for athlete performance data on the USOPC's Athlete Management System platform (Athlete 360). Serve as the primary platform builder to implement Athlete 360 at scale with a growing and evolving group of stakeholders. Derive analysis and insights from novel performance, health, and wellness data sources. Apply best practices in sport science to determine solutions to challenging performance questions.

We are looking for a detail-oriented, trusted problem solver with a passion for the Olympic and Paralympic Movements and experience in high-performance sport.

Here's how you'll have an impact:

  • Athlete 360 Platform Management
    • Oversee the design of data collection tools in the Athlete 360 platform, ensuring data quality and enabling integrated analysis and reporting.
    • Implement procedures and data best practices to ensure operational functionality and scalability of Athlete 360.
    • Create standardized templates and tools to ensure consistency across stakeholders while maintaining flexibility to adapt to the needs of each sport.
    • Optimize platform operations such as user account management, auditing roles and permissions for data security, appropriate logic and data validation, and tracking usage, capabilities, risks, and issues.
    • Maintain collaborative relationships with Athlete 360 users, providing support and identifying opportunities to improve solutions and analysis.
    • Assist with prioritization of vendor support, aligning efforts and resources across multiple NGBs and projects.
    • Deliver excellent customer service to Athlete 360 users in alignment with Performance Innovation onboarding and communication strategies.
    • Train Athlete 360 users to ensure successful program adoption and create data efficiencies, traveling to facilitate coach and athlete sessions as needed.
    • In partnership with Assoc Performance Data Engineer, ensure Athlete 360 is fully integrated into USOPC systems to enable cross-functional reporting and analysis.
  • Applied Sport Science Data
    • Create data-informed solutions to maximize athlete performance, well-being, and training availability.
    • Collaborate with USOPC and NGB sport science providers to automate and improve processes.
    • Design feedback tools for athletes, coaches, and providers to optimize training for desired performance and health outcomes.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert with Athlete 360 users to design data tools to enable various applied sport science needs.
    • Apply the latest in sport science research to position the USOPC as a global leader in athlete performance and health data.
  • Data Analytics & Reporting
    • Surface actionable insights for high-performance teams and coaches by publishing reports and dashboards focused on effective design, analysis, and data visualization.
    • Perform statistical analyses on data obtained by the Athlete 360 program, enabling users to make data-informed interventions.
    • Assist with establishing performance benchmarks and trends to enable the monitoring and reporting of athlete development.

Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Exercise Science, Biomechanics, Physiology, Kinesiology, Sport Science, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of experience administering Athlete Management Systems (AMS) in high-performance environments
  • 3-5 years of experience with statistical languages (R, Python) and data visualization software (Tableau, Power BI)
  • Previous experience as a sport science practitioner
  • Demonstrated technical skills on the Smartabase platform
  • Detailed knowledge of sports technology solutions (e.g., force plates, wearables, motion capture)
  • Ability to collaborate with sport performance practitioners in clinical settings
  • Ability to communicate analytics insights with a diverse population, including athletes, coaches, performance staff, and medical personnel
  • Accountable for detail-oriented, accurate, high-quality work
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

  • This home-based role can work from anywhere within the United States.

Here's some more information you need to know:

  • Hiring Pay Range: $65,805 to $74,000 per year.
  • There are (two) full-time roles available.
  • This full-time, exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
  • Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program at a 10% target. This program is subject to change or elimination by the USOPC at any time at its sole discretion.
