About the role:

As the Principal Data Scientist at Trellis, you’ll lay the foundation for a world class data science team. You’ll use our troves of data to optimize the experiences we offer to consumers and help unlock the value of their insurance data. Ultimately, you’ll help turn our data into accurate predictions, strategic insights, and user value.

Tasks will include:

• Building and managing a roadmap of valuable data science projects aligned with our strategy
• Building prediction models from our wide array of data sources
• Developing hypotheses and proposing experiments to improve our products
• Owning data science projects from conception to deployment, in concert with our product, design, and engineering teams
• Uncovering insights that drive business strategy and decision making

You should have:

• 4-5+ years of experience in data science, ideally in roles that deployed working models to production systems for consumer experiences
• Track record of success leading initiatives that drove user value
• Strong SQL skills
• Fluent in R, Python, and/or other languages used in data science
• Communication ability: polished written documents that explain complex concepts to internal stakeholders
• Ownership mentality: willing to do whatever it takes to create value from your work
• Experience in insurtech/fintech is a plus
