VOTETRIPLING.ORG
We design and quickly mainstream field-tested voter engagement innovations to help Democrats win. We do this because we believe that an innovative progressive movement will build a more equitable and just society.
Our organization was born in the wake of the 2016 election as a grassroots, volunteer-led initiative. Over the next four years, our work took off and we became a team of 30 full-time staff in 2020. From 2016 to 2020 our work focused singularly on designing and quickly mainstreaming field-tested voter engagement innovations that spark non-activists to mobilize their friends to vote. We succeeded in developing and quickly mainstreaming a suite of elegant, user-friendly and non-proprietary innovations that RCTs suggest yielded over 15,000 net votes in historically disenfranchised communities. As one example, we designed and quickly mainstreamed ‘polling place vote tripling’. Dozens of major partners used this innovation in 2020, including When We All Vote and Fair Count, ultimately resulting in over 10,000 canvasser-hours of polling place vote tripling that produced tens-of-thousands of relational conversations. This innovation was featured in The Washington Post, The New Yorker, and The New York Times.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are hiring a Senior Associate: Data & Evaluation to be a member of our Research Department, working on our partisan and nonpartisan research initiatives. The Senior Associate: Data & Evaluation will work closely with the Deputy Director of Research: Data & Evaluation to (i) design and implement experiments, (ii) analyze data and draw conclusions about results, and (iii) support the programmatic team’s data needs (such as data cleaning and visualization for our partner organizations).
Questions your work might answer include:
- From a quantitative impact perspective, which voter engagement problems should we be working on and why?
- Does collecting vote tripling pledges on a college campus increase voter turnout among “triplees”?
- What text message script is most effective at getting people to pledge to remind three friends to vote?
- What training content is most effective at increasing partners’ recall and comprehension of vote tripling tactics?
- How might we design a mini-experiment to stress-test our implementation and evaluation strategy for a brand new innovation?
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
The Senior Associate: Data & Evaluation will have a background in statistical methods and evaluation. They will be a self-starter comfortable with the ambiguous, fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment of a startup. They’ll have strong attention to detail and be driven by a desire to innovate. Given the complex nature of the questions we are working on, the ideal candidate will be relentlessly curious and be able to communicate complex research data in a way that is digestible and actionable to people who know nothing about research.
We are dedicated to creating an organization that reflects the diversity of the country we serve. We strongly encourage women, people of color, and others who are underrepresented in campaigns to apply.
**Please note that due to the nature of our work we are unable to hire any individuals who aren’t US Citizens, Legal Permanent Residents (Green Card holders), or DACA recipients.**
