Planoly is looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join a growing startup and work on an application that thousands of brands, creators and marketing firms are using every day. You will have the opportunity to take a critical role on our Product team and have a huge impact on Planoly’s data first product process.

We are a small, fast-paced startup that is on a mission to help businesses and individuals simplify social marketing. You will be a key member of our product team, driving alignment and a data centric and self-serve data approach across Marketing, Product, Engineering & Customer Success.

About this role: This role is perfect for someone who proactively identifies areas of opportunity, is comfortable writing queries, responding to business requests and driving data-driven processes across Planoly. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, is data and customer-obsessed, incredibly organized, process-driven but flexible, is detail-oriented while keeping track of the big picture, and easily builds effective relationships with team members who have diverse personalities and working styles.

This is an extremely high impact and high visibility role that is critical to the success of the product organization and Planoly as a whole. 

What you’ll do:

As a Senior Product Data Analyst, you will play a pivotal role within our product team. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Data-driven Decision Support:
    • Leverage Bigquery, Deepnote, and Data Studio to provide actionable insights that drive product strategy and decision-making.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into data analysis tasks.
  • Product Analysis:
    • Analyze user behavior, product performance, and key metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
    • Conduct and support A/B testing and cohort analysis to evaluate the impact of product changes on user engagement and conversion.
    • Work with the product managers to identify tracking and data strategy for new features before launch.
  • Data Infrastructure and Maintenance:
    • Work closely with the engineering team to ensure data integrity, implement data pipelines, and maintain a robust data infrastructure.
    • Evaluate and recommend tools and technologies for data analysis and reporting.
  • Reporting and Visualization:
    • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to communicate key product metrics to stakeholders.
    • Present findings in a clear and compelling manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Process
    • Drive a process to manage incoming data requests, ongoing data support and maintenance, and enables strong cross functional support.

You are an expert in cross functional collaboration, you’ll be responsible for sharing your plans, work-in-progress, and results with other teams, marketing, sales, execs, support and any other stakeholders vital to the product team’s success.

What you’ll bring:

  • Analytical Mindset:
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive insights from complex datasets.
    • Comfortable working with large datasets and knowledge of database management systems.

    • Understanding of product development processes and a keen awareness of the business impact of data-driven decisions across the business, not just in product development.

    • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment, collaborating with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex findings in a simple and understandable manner.

Skills & experience:

  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Professional Experience:
    • 4+ years of proven experience as a Data Analyst, preferably in a product-focused environment.
    • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Looker/Data Studio, Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent.
    • Comfortable managing and adding to data pipelines 
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Expert in SQL for data querying and manipulation.
    • Experience with programming languages such as Python (particularly Pandas for data manipulation)
    • Experience working with pulling data from APIs via Python and inserting that data into a Data Warehouse
    • Experience with dbt (data build tool)
    • Experience with A/B testing methodologies and statistical analysis.
  • Other:
    • Excellent project management skills and expertise at managing multiple work streams.
    • Familiar in agile development processes 
      • Our data team currently runs there processes through a sprint like structure
    • Experience with Product Board, JIRA & Confluence a plus
