We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Looker Developer to join our growing data team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining Looker dashboards and data models to empower data-driven decision-making across the organization. This includes a key focus on integrating Looker with Gemini for advanced analytics and leveraging BigQuery as a data source. You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, and engineers to understand their reporting and analytical needs and translate them into effective, insightful, and interactive Looker solutions. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, LookML development, data visualization best practices, and experience with Gemini integration.
What Things Will You Do As A Nerd?
- Communicate with stakeholders to understand data content and business requirements
- Develop and maintain LookML dashboards, views, and explores to meet business requirements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into robust and user-friendly dashboards.
- Optimize Looker performance for complex datasets and dashboards.
- Implement data governance and security best practices within Looker.
- Perform data validation and quality assurance to ensure accuracy and consistency of reporting.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other Looker users.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest Looker features and best practices.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of Looker data models and documentation.
- Create and configure Looker workspaces and data sources, specifically connecting to BigQuery.
- Enable and configure the Gemini extension within Looker, ensuring seamless access to BigQuery data.
- Conduct thorough testing of the Gemini integration in Looker.
- Develop and refine prompts within Gemini to optimize the user experience and insights derived from the dashboards.
- Design and implement interactive dashboards using Looker's out-of-the-box configurable elements, incorporating visualizations and natural language query capabilities.
- Develop initial dashboard wireframes, outlining design concepts for interactive dashboards in Looker.
- Finalize dashboards for areas such as Policy Performance and Payroll Analysis, integrating with deployed predictive models.
- Deploy Gemini-powered Looker dashboards to production.
What Skills Will Help You Be A Successful Nerd?
Required:
- 5+ years of experience developing and maintaining Looker dashboards and data models.
- Strong understanding of LookML, including derived tables, measures, and parameters.
- Experience working with large and complex datasets.
- Proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with data visualization best practices and principles.
- Experience with BigQuery.
- Hands-on experience integrating Looker with Gemini.
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Mathematics, Data Analytics or Computer Science
- Looker Certification is a very big advantage.
- GCP Data or ML certification is an advantage
