Senior Data Engineer
Backbone is looking for a skilled Data Engineer. A Data Engineer is responsible for the infrastructure, collection, management, and converting raw data into useable information for the business. You will optimize data pipelines and warehouses to support business intelligence, reporting, and analytics. You will work with other members of the software team, hardware, sales, and many others to ensure we have the right data to make the best decisions.
You will get to help influence the various roadmaps across the company application through the use of data. Use modern technologies and help drive the data roadmap to make sure we have accurate and quality data to make business decisions. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with departments to understand data requirements and develop solutions that meet the needs of the business.
- Understand and implement data engineering best practices
- Build and maintain data pipelines from internal databases to SaaS applications into our data warehouse.
- Own the architecture and systems documentation for the data team. Optimize data storage, processing, and retrieval for performance and cost.
- Collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure data needs are addressed on a timely manner
- Generate architecture recommendations and the ability to implement them
- Define and implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with data regulations and security standards.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on building data pipelines and data warehouses.
- Strong computer science and software engineering fundamentals
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data quality and integrity.
- Understanding of modern data architecture paradigms and associated strengths and weaknesses
- Experience with data warehousing and data modeling concepts and tools such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
- Experience in ETL processes and tools such as Talend
