BoomTown is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join a cross-functional team that serves as a virtual center of data excellence for the company.   

As the Senior Data Engineer, you will design and build analytic data stores and integration processes that meet the data needs of various internal and external constituents. The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, monitoring, conceptualizing, innovating, and collaborating with team members and customers.  You will be in a fast-growing and rapidly changing environment that will demand a continuous improvement mindset and a hunger for the next challenge. 

Responsibilities:

• Work in a cross-functional Agile team to plan, build and improve products of our platform
• Participate in technology evaluation and selection initiatives that grow the company’s core data and analytics capacity
• Understand product descriptions for new features and how they fit into the greater BoomTown system while learning how our customers use them
• Take initiative on assigned day-to-day tasks and keep pace with the team to get the job done while knowing when to ask for help.
• Design durable solutions with a high standard of quality
• Plan and direct the work of self and others by proposing and reviewing design alternatives, problems and solutions
• Mentor and guide less experienced data engineers
• Proactively solicit alternative ideas, thoughts and opinions
• Identify and solve hard problems, unblocking logjams
• Work to achieve results with less effort
• Review code making sure it’s clear, readable, and as error free as possible

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional data engineering
• BS degree in Computer Science, Math or related technical field Regularly perform code reviews for peers and teammates
• Comfortable with multiple operating systems
• A deep understanding of general ETL processing, data pipelines and data warehousing concepts and workflows
• Experience working in an Agile development environment
• Significant experience with large scale data sources, structures and processes

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience providing technical leadership to  team(s)
• Proficient with AWS
• Relevant work experience leveraging Apache Airflow and AWS data processing and storage solutions
• Experience deploying infrastructure as code with tools such as AWS CloudFormation
• Experience working with web data sources
• Strong business acumen
