We’re looking for an analytically-driven senior data engineer to own and drive initiatives across the data spectrum.  The data team - including data engineers and analysts - works hand in hand with product and engineering teams to implement new data sources, improve analytical capabilities and enhance our existing data systems.  You’ll support our stakeholders by quickly implementing modeling on new product features, experiments and new data sources and helping us all understand what the data means.  While your closest partners will be within the tech sphere, we are just as likely to be supporting account management, sales, customer success, marketing, and other teams understand our users better to drive better decision making across the organization.

Our stack includes Luigi, Snowplow, dbt, Databricks, Stitch, Looker and dataStudio, and we are always looking for ways to utilize new and our existing toolset to reduce complexity and add functionality.  

Your work will directly impact our ability to understand how to help the millions of users across The Muse and Fairygodboss who are looking to further their career and get advice.  

Core Responsibilities
-Work directly with data team members, stakeholders and business partners to define business requirements and successful analytics outcomes and implement data model design
-Design, build, and maintain ELT pipelines and data models in to ensure reliable business reporting using SQL in dbt
-Build analytics solutions that provide practical insights for the product and engineering teams, account management, sales and marketing
-Work with our analytics team as well as other data engineers to determine data modeling and analytical solutions that work across the organization to unlock understanding 
-Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery
-Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems

Skills & Required Experience
-7+ years of data / analytics engineering experience building, working & maintaining data pipelines & ETL processes
-Good Knowledge in modern as well as classic Data Modeling theory
-Production experience working with dbt and designing and implementing Data Warehouse solutions
-Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with Cloud columnar databases (Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, Google BigQuery), query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databasesIntermediate experience with any of the programming language: Python, Go, Java, Scala, we use primarily Python
-Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement
-Familiarity with processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management
-Integration with 3rd party API SaaS applications such as Salesforce including the usage of pipeline connectors like StitchPractice software engineering best practices across the development life cycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations
-Ability to work cross-functionally, be detail oriented, build and maintain trust with internal stakeholders
$150,000 - $185,000 a year
