About the Role:

We seek a Senior Data Scientist to join Lion Studios’ Data Science R&D team! On the R&D team, we conduct algorithmic research for mobile gaming applications, support the Data organisation as a whole with reproducible solutions and mentorship and collaborate closely with two of the five game teams to implement Data Science solutions that maximize the return of user acquisition campaigns, optimize game parameters and personalize player experiences. In this role, you will architect, develop, and deploy Data Science solutions in casual mobile games spanning hundreds of millions of players. You will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining Data Science products in production, including an early-stage Reinforcement Learning dynamic difficulty system. 

Responsibilities:

• Optimizing and Personalizing Games: Collaborate with our Match and New Games game teams to optimize game systems and personalize user experiences. Titles include:  Match 3D (iOS/Android), Match Tile 3D (iOS/Android), Card Shuffle Sort (iOS/Android) and Found It! (iOS/Android).
• Developing Data Science Solutions: Research new modelling algorithms, languages, packages, and statistical tools to enhance the overall productivity of the team. Develop intelligence systems that layer explainability over Data Science solutions, driving Game Design roadmaps. 
• Collaborating Across Functions: Work with the Platform team to generalize solutions for portfolio-wide use, democratizing R&D team successes across the Lion Studios’ portfolio.
• Contributing and Mentoring: Contribute modules to an in-house Python/Pyspark library for use by the broader Data organization. Mentor members of the Data organization on Data Science solutions, approaches to experimentation, driving roadmaps, and solving problems.
• Promoting a Data-First Culture: Inspire and support a data-first culture across the organization.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience launching Data Science solutions in Mobile Apps
• 1+ years of experience with Databricks, Snowflake and AWS (S3, Lambda)
• 1+ years of experience with stakeholder relationship development and project management
• Advanced proficiency with Python/PySpark and SQL
• Advanced proficiency with Reinforcement Learning solutions
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment handling multiple projects (1 large & 1-2 small) 

Bonus Points:

• Gaming industry experience
• Experience with PyTorch
• Experience with model fine-tuning (Hugging Face, Open AI)
• Experience developing Python modules for use by others
• MS degree or higher in a quantitative field
• Background in Cognitive Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience or Cognitive Science
• Strong background in research methods and statistics
