Job Description

Reverb is a music gear marketplace, and we have a ton of data about music gear! These data come from over a decade's worth of listings, with varying degrees of structure and metadata. We’re looking for a Sr. Data Scientist to drive several projects to extract more useful information from those listings, as well as own the testing and measurement of any changes they make. We expect this is going to involve a significant amount of both supervised and unsupervised machine learning, as well as online controlled experimentation.

This role will report to a manager, but should require minimal direct supervision. You will be encouraged to lead and mentor more junior folks on the team as needed. We expect that strong candidates will have 4-7 years of meaningful experience, or an appropriate combination of a graduate degree and professional experience.

This position is based in Chicago and is open to fully remote or hybrid candidates.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Manager of Data Science of our Analytics team. For candidates in all other eligible locations, the base salary range will be $101,000 - $131,000 USD per year.

Primary Responsibilities

• Partner with product and engineering teams to find opportunities to enrich our structured music gear data, using machine learning tools that you will develop
• Iterate on existing tooling for extracting information from and attribution information to our music gear listings
• Collaborate in the development, execution, and analysis of A/B tests and other online experiments

Tools

• Our ML stack is built on Anyscale and a combination of models built in PyTorch and open-sourced transformers from HuggingFace
• We’re primarily a Python shop for data science work
• Most SQL-related work will involve Redshift; we use dbt for transformation
• We share most analyses via data visualization tools, specifically Looker and Amplitude
• We use Slack, GitHub, Atlassian tools (like JIRA and Confluence), and Google GSuite (like sheets, slides, docs, and drive) to communicate, share, and document
