The Opportunity - Senior Data Scientist 

The Senior Data Scientist will discover and operationalize data science and ML products & insights derived from FreshBooks and 3rd party data in support of marketing, product development and user research. As part of the team, you'll research, design and implement ML algorithms that drive our core recommendation and personalization systems.

What You'll Do

• Develop and implement multiple recommendation solutions at scale across our personalization efforts to deliver on user experience

• As a technical leader, you are expected to be on top of the literature, open source challenges and datasets, helping to inform strategy and project planning within the Data Science team and across the wider organization.

• You’ll maintain an understanding of industry and technology trends in ML, DL, NLP, recommendation and personalization

• Lead, mentor and develop colleagues, and align the research and development direction to business goals, especially with judgements on schedule, approach and prioritization. 

• Collaborate with data and software engineers to integrate and enable and deploy new or improved models and supporting technology within the company’s production systems.

• Responsible for the conception, planning, and prioritizing of data science projects.

What You'll Bring to the Role

• Strong background applying machine learning in industry settings

• Experience with recommender systems and/or knowledge graphs are strongly preferred.

• Strong software development skills and experience writing production quality code

• Strong mathematical skills with knowledge of statistical methods and machine learning

• Proven track record delivering results in complex, cross-functional projects

• MSc (PhD preferred) in Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning or related quantitative field

• Strong organizational and leadership skills

• Excellent communication skills

You'll Stand Out If You Bring Experience In

• Recommender systems, knowledge graphs, experimentation, multi-arm bandit and/or Bayesian approaches are a strong plus.
