Motional’s ML team is specialized in research as well as deployment of Machine Learning and Classical Methods. We implement, test and deploy deep neural networks, algorithms, and software to impact different parts of an autonomous vehicle (AV) software stack. In order to continuously improve the performance of all our models, we constructed an automated loop to monitor and mine for model’s failure cases, extend training datasets, adapt the models,  and automatically improve the models’ performance. And all of this is happening at log ingest!

  • Continuous Learning Framework
  • Scenario Mining
  • Motional's Machine Learning team has produced ground breaking advancements in the autonomous vehicle industry including nuPlan (https://arxiv.org/abs/2106.11810), nuScenes (https://www.nuscenes.org), PointPillars (https://arxiv.org/abs/1812.05784), and PointPainting (http://arxiv.org/abs/1911.10150)

What You'll Do:

  • Analyze data distributions to encountered problematic scenes for models focused on prediction, perception and planning
  • Create models to automatically mine for model-specific problematic scenes
  • Automate mining, re-training, and error analysis workflows.
  • Create dashboard and metrics to evaluate performance of ML models and its influence to the AV performance

What You'll Bring:

  • 4+ years of software development and data analysis experience
  • Python development experience
  • Statistical data analysis experience
  • Experience in handling large amount of data
  • Model training, and design experience
  • Experience with PyTorch or other deep learning frameworks
  • Passion about self-driving technology and its potential impact on the world

Bonus (not required):

  • Experience in C++ deployment
  • Experience designing, training, analyzing, and deploying neural networks for at least one of the following applications: Motion Planning, Motion prediction, Behavioral prediction, Perception.
  • Knowledge of software engineering principles including software design, source control management, build processes, code reviews, testing methods.
