About the Role

As a founding member, you will spearhead the integration of machine-learning capabilities throughout our business. Your primary responsibility will be to develop groundbreaking machine learning applications, steering them from conceptualization to production within Reverb Search and Recommendations.

You will build zero-to-one machine learning capabilities, including learning-to-rank models for search result optimization, query and content understanding, personalization and machine learning based retrieval. In addition, you will work on building the foundational components for the first-generation recommendation products at Reverb, architecting and building the recommendation system, implementing cutting-edge algorithms to source and rank candidates according to various product needs. Beyond that, you will also deliver the ML applications in an efficient and scalable manner.

Self-motivation - Taking the initiative to get things done by finding ways around potential roadblocks and proactively working with other team members to find right-sized solutions.

Learning and Teaching - You are someone who likes to participate in code reviews and mentor other engineers directly. You also enjoy new challenges and learning new things to help you do your work more effectively.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Sr. Engineering Manager of our Search and Recommendation team. For candidates located in NYC, San Jose, San Francisco, or Seattle, please visit this link for compensation information. For candidates in all other eligible locations, the base salary range will be $127,000 - $165,000 USD per year.

Qualifications

  • 4-7 years of professional experience with applied machine learning and a good product sense with a focus on user experience. 
  • Domain knowledge or working experience in any of these areas: Recommendation systems, Search, Advertisements, or E-commerce.
  • Deep knowledge of your chosen languages and frameworks, but curiosity and ability to ramp up on new technologies quickly when called for.
  • Experience creating and using  machine learning algorithms and data structures.
  • Excellent in analysis, modeling and problem-solving, and can see the essence of problems from complex data.
  • Deep familiarity with one or more of the following areas at scale: Lucene-based search systems (ElasticSearch or Solr), search ranking and retrieval, data science, or information taxonomy
  • Bachelor or advanced degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent experience.

Remote-eligible roles (as indicated in the location header of each job description) are available in all U.S. states except Alaska and Hawaii. Remote roles are currently only available within the U.S. unless otherwise specified in the specific job description.
