Zearn is seeking a Senior Evaluation Analyst to conduct efficacy research on Zearn’s impact for students and teachers across the country—partnering with districts to assess Zearn’s effectiveness in supporting K-8 student growth and achievement in math. As a Senior Evaluation Analyst, you will manage end-to-end execution of Zearn's efficacy research, and act as a thought partner to design Zearn’s long-term efficacy research strategy.

What This Role Will Do:

Own district-level efficacy analysis process from start to finish:

  • Managing data sharing agreements;
  • Communicating with districts to acquire all needed data;
  • Maintaining confidentiality of data;
  • Cleaning the data and conducting analysis;
  • Generating presentations of outcomes; and
  • Working with partnerships and marketing to tailor presentations to a range of audiences.

Lead multi-state quasi-experimental design analyses

  • Gathering and cleaning publicly available education and demographic data from multiple sources;
  • Utilizing propensity score matching to create comparable samples of Zearn users and non-users;
  • Norming achievement data across multiple states;
  • Analyzing data to assess Zearn’s impact; and
  • Composing papers and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.

What You’ll Bring To The Role:

  • 3+ years of experience analyzing the effectiveness of programs
    • Hands-on experience with education data a big plus
  • The ability to clean messy data and ensure accuracy of findings.
  • A detail-oriented individual with the ability to understand data and identify issues;
  • An understanding of experimental, quasi-experimental and correlational research design and the strengths and limitations of each;
  • Methodological expertise in regression analysis necessary; longitudinal analysis, difference-of-difference and propensity score matching preferred;
  • Stata strongly preferred, but R or Python acceptable;
  • Strong writing and presentation skills with an ability to translate research findings to technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Bachelor’s with equivalent experience acceptable required; Master’s in relevant field of education, social science or data analysis preferred;
  • Humility, a team-oriented mindset, and an eagerness to roll up your sleeves and dig into tactical work;

Location:

This role is remote, but you may be asked to travel to our New York City office periodically for team building when it reopens.
