The GridX product team is looking for a Senior Manager of Data Science to help us build out our Data Science organization. You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and analysts on a wide range of problems, bringing scientific thought and statistical methods to leverage the vast amount of data. Ultimately enabling the product team to build, develop and improve products that will revolutionize the energy industry. The Senior Manager of Data Science will work primarily remotely, with occasional working sessions in our Oakland, CA office.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Build a Data Science organization, allowing the company to harness the power of data in developing and marketing new products.
- Mentor a team of analysts.
- Liaise with Product and Business Leaders to understand issues, priorities and support them through relevant product and business analytics.
- Deliver data backed analysis and statistically proven solutions.
- Ability to work across time zones in a dynamic start-up setting.
- Analyzing vast amounts of data to identify patterns and create thought leadership on customer usage patterns and rates.
REQUIRED Qualifications
- Experience with load forecasting or forecasting algorithms pertaining very large data sets
- Experience in the Utility or Electricity industry
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or other business/analytical disciplines.
- 5+ years data science and analytics experience.
- Strong project management and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build processes and implement tools from the ground-up.
- Ability to coach and mentor analysts on technical and analytical skills.
- Proven analytical and quantitative skills and an ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, develop business cases, and complete root cause analyses.
- Ability to employ statistics and anomaly detection techniques for data-driven analytics.
- Ability to process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis and modeling.
- Solid experience with common data science toolkits, such as scikit-learn, Spark ML, pandas, Scipy, etc.
- Strong SQL knowledge; working experience with standard Business Intelligence tools a great plus.
- Experience dealing with large quantities of data across relational and NoSQL databases, cloud storage, and distributed compute systems.
- Ability to scale data science solutions with a keen understanding of how to optimize performance and mitigate computing cost.
- Experience with data visualization tools.
- Ability to rethink existing processes and design new processes for more effective analyses.
- Good knowledge of statistics and machine learning.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Possess strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
