The Voltus Engineering Team is looking for software engineers passionate about building technical data tools and systems shared directly with the greater Voltus Organization.

You will be responsible for defining and executing on a technical direction necessary to make workflows, methods and trusted data available to data users – ultimately making Voltus behave like a well-informed, data driven virtual power plant. You will also have a heavy hand in pioneering an organizational data governance model. 

Data availability engineers build towards a future where useful tools and paved pathways making data driven analysis self-serve and reliably sustainable for data driven Voltans.

Responsibilities

- Collaborate with engineers and data scientists within the data team and greater data community to evangelize a suite of tools, systems, and methods driven by a healthy balance of pragmatism and best-in-breed capabilities.
- Foster relationships with analytics teams distributed across the organization to better understand their data access, automation, descriptive & predictive analytics needs.
- Iterate solutions to make data available on a timely basis for partner stakeholders.
- Define best practices and pipelines for interacting with enterprise data models.

Skills

- Prior experience with data lake, lakehouse, or data warehouse technologies.
- Solid programming skills and computer science (or similar) fundamentals.
- Solid fluency with multiple dialects of SQL and a range of data management systems.
- Ability to evangelize technology systems consumed by internal users with a wide varying spread of technical/computing experience.
- Familiarity with orchestration frameworks like Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster
- Experience building data intensive pipelines.

Nice-to-haves

- Previous experience with enterprise business intelligence tools like Looker, Tableau, PowerBI etc.
- Data Quality Frameworks like Great Expectations, Soda SQL
- Previous semantic modeling experience preferred, either in dbt or LookML.
