Candidates should be located within California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Arizona, Tennessee, or Maine.

About the Role

We are looking for an exceptional Senior Analytics Engineer to drive data quality and best practices throughout Thistle. This position will have the opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders across the company, enabling our growth through appropriate data metrics, validation, documentation, and tooling.

Questions you might work on include

    • How should our data model be designed to appropriately scale with our company to handle new regions, facilities, and product lines?
    • What are the most important business metrics to understand company health? How do we validate that these metrics are correct and report them clearly to key stakeholders?
    • How should our data model be documented, so data scientists, analysts, and other data consumers can work effectively with data?

What you'll do

    • Become the expert on Thistle’s data model, including defining appropriate dimensions, creating data pipelines, and developing appropriate processes to ensure data quality.
    • Drive a data-driven decision culture throughout the company: empower teams to use data in their day-to-day, such as through appropriate visualizations and reports.
    • Develop and maintain data definitions for key business metrics.
    • Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, software engineers, marketers, and more on opportunities to improve data quality and availability.
    • Improve database performance through query optimization and monitoring.

What you'll bring

    • 3+ years of hands-on analytics engineering experience
    • Bachelors/Masters/Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline or equivalent practical experience
    • Excellent SQL knowledge
    • Solid software engineering skills, including proficiency with Python
    • Experience with data processing tools such as Airflow and dbt
    • Experience in data modeling, ETL development, and data warehouse design
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to understand business needs
