Sr. Data Analyst

Salary Range – $100,000-$150,000

The Senior Data Analyst role is responsible for conducting analytical studies for clients who have invested in our platform to help them achieve desired business outcomes, as well as curating analytical content that guides business users in how to best leverage the Salient platform to address common business needs in consumer goods organizations. Required skills include client communication, presentation, data analysis, visualization, as well as strong critical thinking and attention to detail. This is a full-time, exempt position that is offered as fully remote; our headquarters are based in Horseheads, NY. This position has future growth opportunities within Salient in areas of business consulting depending on skills developed and areas of interest. This is a client-facing position with travel opportunities available.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Conduct analysis studies for clients such as Category Reviews, Key Account Reviews, Pricing Effectiveness, etc.
• Study client data to identify opportunities for improvement and communicate those opportunities with fact-based explanations using the Salient technology platform.
• Define and improve step-by-step methods to identify opportunities for improving profitability, increasing savings or efficiencies, and recommend next steps to remedy or further improve those areas
• Lead on other client delivery services relevant to client services agreements and initiatives
• Develop, improve, and implement business-user-facing analytical content and Consumer Goods industry best practice analytical templates on clients’ solutions and Salient’s internal demo datasets
• Further improve detailed documentation cataloging business scenarios & capabilities for demonstration
• Become an expert in Salient end-user technologies (Salient web, mobile and desktop applications)
• Become an expert in how to apply Salient technologies to meet client business needs.

Qualifications:

• Experience providing billable data analysis services to clients in CPG and Retail.  To perform this position successfully, individuals must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

Education / Experience:

• B.S. preferred in Information Systems, Business Administration, or related area.
• 5-10 years of professional experience focused on business consulting, data analysis, and visualization is strongly preferred.

Required Skills or Knowledge:

• Can demonstrate a history of providing billable consulting services work in data analysis
• Provide billable analytical studies, professionally communicating findings to clients in clearly documented form
• Experience in business consulting, client delivery and account management
• Experience with database technologies is preferred
• Skills in Machine Learning tools and techniques including R and Python strongly preferred
• Experience in presenting business data analysis and making recommendations to business leadership
• Experience in leading business solution implementations
• Must be strong in problem solving and scientific/mathematical thinking skills
• Ability to follow written and verbal procedures and instructions
• Ability to create organized and professional client-facing material 
• Ability to perform in an environment with multiple projects and priorities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint
• Willingness to experiment and learn new tools and technologies
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others both verbally and in writing
