WE’RE LOOKING FOR 

We’re looking for a Senior Engineer to join our Data Engineering Team. This team powers all of our applications by building systems and infrastructure to effectively collect, distribute, migrate and analyze data at scale. We’re looking for an experienced engineer who has a passion for data, clean code, and operational efficiency.
In this role, you’ll work closely with engineering teammates to help with the development of our consumer flagship product, Lumosity, which is used by millions of users worldwide. You will also routinely interact with product managers, designers, domain experts, and other stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has a track record of successfully supporting the collection and migration of large data sets from cross systems in our tech stack of choice (see details below). Candidates should have a passion for cognitive health and wellness.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

    • Coding position: while architectural skills can be advantageous, they are not mandatory for this role, as it primarily revolves around coding and problem-solving
    • Contribute day to day by coding by creating and maintaining well engineered solutions to fulfill our software requirements
    • Tech stack: Python, Scala, Kafka, Snowflake, Airflow, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Github Actions
    • Offer input and recommendations for development tactics based on your years of experience
    • Use Jira daily to document tasks, completion status, decisions, dependencies, blockages and general progress updates
    • If outside of Pacific Time in the United States, ensure availability between 8am and 1pm Pacific Time, USA

WHAT YOU HAVE

    • Significant experience (5+ years) working in our tech stack
    • Experience crafting and/or contributing to core systems including:
    •  Migrating large data sets across different RDBMS or Data Warehouses
    •  Events Streaming using Kafka
    • Exposure to the principles of functional programming
    • A consistent track record of building Data Pipelines for highly-available back-end systems that scales and is used by large number of users
    • A deep understanding of patterns of data architecture and back-end system design
    • Strong analytical and debugging skills
    • The desire to proactively identify and mitigate risk
    • Experience collaborating in a diverse team toward successful launches of software products
    • If outside of Pacific Time in the United States, the demonstrated ability to collaborate successfully and productively from a different timezone
$35 - $100 an hour
The above represents the expected hourly rate range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider your experience and other job-related factors.
