SupplyHouse.com, an e-commerce heating, plumbing, and HVAC supply company, is searching for a Data Scientist with a focus in Fulfillment and Supply Chain to support our growing Operations Team! This is a remote-based role within select states in the United States. At this time, we are only able to employ those located in the following states: Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.

This position will require travel to our NY office headquarters up to three times per year for internal meetings and team-building activities, plus the potential for travel to our fulfillment center locations as needed. The cost of travel for employees out of the area will be covered by the company. Additionally, our offices are always available for staff to use as much as desired.

A company laptop and other necessary equipment will be provided along with a one-time $250 stipend for your work from home space. 

Role Type: Full-Time, Exempt 

Location: Remote (Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin) 

Schedule: Standard business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET, however, you may utilize our Flex-Time Policy to work your preferred schedule 

Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 (annually)

Responsibilities: 

  • Model exploration and validation
    • Demonstrate a high level of originality and creativity when developing solutions to improve the existing business processes
    • Create and deploy scalable and robust models to help make data-driven decisions
    • Explore existing and new processes to validate deliverable findings on various topics to increase operational efficiency, revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction
  • Ad-hoc analyses
    • Communicate with requesters to clarify analysis goals, data sources, and terminology definitions
    • Collect, model, analyze data, and identify areas of issues and opportunities
    • Deliver insights and actionable findings to cross-functional stakeholders to enable continuous improvement and quick turnarounds
  • Productionize long-term projects
    • Collaborate with Data Science and Engineering teams to turn ad-hoc analyses into reusable data resources (e.g. datasets that are tracked and validated daily) and repeatable processes (e.g. continuously updating dashboards or training and re-deploying a model daily)
    • Own the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of recurring data science tasks to ensure data and model quality, and identify areas for improvement in analytical pipelines
  • Training, development, and management
    • Coach new hires on data wrangling, analytics basics, and lead analytics methodology discussions
    • Spearhead complex projects and manage/execute projects from start to finish
    • Support and guide the Analytics Team in day-to-day communications, project delivery, and task management 

 Requirements: 

  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, or other quantitative field with 3+ years of applicable experience OR Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, or other quantitative field with 5+ years of applicable experience 
  • Prior experience working in and supporting Supply Chain- and Operations-specific functions 
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in Excel, SQL, and Python (or other similar software) 
  • Competency using git for version control and collaboration in production environment 
  • Experience working with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI 
  • Experience working with time series models, regression models, etc. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team with an expertise in staff development
  • Ability to communicate effectively, take feedback and ownership, and constantly improve quality of work
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong attention to detail, multi-tasking skills, and prioritization of responsibilities 

Nice to Have:

  • Experience contributing to production-level workflow orchestration or data orchestration systems (e.g. Airflow, Dagster, Luigi) 
  • Experience with SQL-style data warehouse platforms (e.g. BigQuery, Redshift) 
  • Experience with batch processing and distributed computing systems (e.g. Spark)
