Role Description
The Analytics team within the Software & Analytics group at Form Energy is focused on powering Form's commercial and strategic decisions with analytics insight. We are seeking to hire two Staff Data Scientists to build our understanding of operational and performance requirements for our technology and how it can maximize our value in the future electricity system.

In these roles, you will work either on battery operation or battery R&D data in collaboration with various teams in Form Energy, including our Software, Systems, Battery Product, Cell Development, and Product Management teams. Both Staff Data Scientist roles are new, part of a growing Software & Analytics group, and either role can be based remotely. What You'll Do:

    • Working closely with Battery Products, Cell Development, and other teams at Form to:
    • Role 1: Build data-driven models to analyze and predict battery metrics critical to research and development undertaken by various teams at Form Energy
    • Role 1: Maintain specific datasets to be used for analysis development/algorithm development/evaluation. Use data engineering best practices to enable seamless access to analysis products by various teams at Form Energy for analysis and monitoring of battery performance
    • Role1: Lead meta-analysis of the vast cell test data being collected to understand drivers of cell performance, degradation mechanisms, and other cell operation characteristics
    • Role 2: Using the vast dataset of battery operations under various scenarios run by the Analytics team, understand the range of operational requirements for our product along with the contributions of each of these operations to our battery value
    • Role 2: Assess the battery performance data and help define and verify requirements of quality and reliability under various operational scenarios
    • Role 2: Integrate system reliability modeling with grid reliability modeling
    • Role 2: Build ML models for real-time forecasts unique to our technology for dispatch decisions
    • Interface with stakeholders across the various teams at Form to define analysis goals, and execute and communicate results.

What You'll Bring:

    • Degree in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field. E.g., a B.S. with 7+ years of industry experience, or MS/MSE with plus three to five years of industry experience, or a Ph.D. with some industry experience 
    • Experience working with large datasets, knowledge of tools such as Python, Snowflake, SQL, or similar programming and database tools to perform complex analysis and data visualizations
    • Role 1: Experience in semi-empirical model development, analysis of large datasets, building statistical and machine learning models, time-series analysis, familiarity with testing and validation of electrochemical systems ideally at a technology company in the battery sector or a combination of graduate schooling and experience
    • Role 2: Experience in analysis of large datasets, building machine learning models for time-series forecasting, familiarity with battery operations ideally at a technology company in the power sector, or a combination of graduate schooling and experience.
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills with the ability to convey information and content easily and effectively to stakeholders and customers
    • Passion for our mission, sustainability, and climate change
The California salary range for this role is $189,165 - $233,345. The Massachusetts salary range for this role is $180,940 - $223,200. The Pennsylvania salary range for this role is $164,490 - $202,910. The range listed is what we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and may be modified in the future. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor. #LI-DNI
