We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to help develop solutions, codes and reports which solve the questions most pressing to the TV and media industry. Being able and excited to analyze large and messy data is part of the job, as is having the skills to flexibly work on a variety of tasks to maintain project success. As a Data Scientist you will be responsible for: coding, improving methods and efficiencies across the team, developing reports, project management, and cross team collaboration.

A Data Scientist’s day-to-day tasks would include:

  • Coding original R scripts as well as optimizing current scripts for the large majority of your day
  • Applying or adapting methods to new problems, and developing new tools as needed
  • Working independently or collaboratively on large and complex data science problems and analyses
  • Leading client projects throughout the duration of their flight and delegating tasks accordingly
  • Communicating with internal stakeholders and clients to develop analytical solutions within client context
  • Working with client/sales teams to build new business opportunities
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field
  • 5+ years experience (or postgraduate degree(s) plus experience) in a comparable field
  • 3+ years of coding and specifically 1+ years R coding
  • Experience writing stable code that can be automated into larger product offerings
  • Solid machine learning and/or statistical skills and intuition
  • Solid understanding of sampling, weighting, biased data, overfitting, ensemble methods, survey methodology, and causal inference
  • Intellectual flexibility to adapt existing tools, algorithms, methods to new needs
  • Strong ability to communicate about data structure and characteristics, analytical techniques, statistical findings, and solutions to a variety of audiences using data visualization and reporting tools such as ggplot2, matplotlib, Shiny, etc.
  • Experience analyzing large and messy data
  • Strict integrity, able to work with confidential, private, and high-value client information
  • Can balance workload across a variety of different projects over the course of a week
  • Find stable threads to explore within amorphous and changing business problems
  • Excellent written skills to translate results to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences through white papers; reports; and internal, external, and client-facing presentations

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency with SQL
  • Previous experience with Databricks (or other distributed computing environments) and familiarity with Spark SQL and Scala
  • Master's degree in a quantitative field
  • Experience working in analytics in the entertainment industry or in television or digital marketing
  • Experience with the design and analysis of experiments
  • Analysis of high-dimensional time series or event stream data
  • Adapting, implementing, and scaling various machine learning techniques

Candidates who meet the qualifications of this role can expect to earn an annual salary of $90,000 to $120,000.
