We are looking for a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will drive technical rigor and direction for the team through analytical thinking and ML solutions for pricing optimization - a high visibility initiative for TRR. Pricing optimization is a core part of TRR’s strategy to drive profitability and a transparent pricing experience for consignors and buyers.

We are looking for someone who finds passion in the application of statistical frameworks and ML optimization techniques to large and complex retail data and be at the forefront of innovation in e-commerce.

• Identify the right framework to translate a business question into a data or statistical problem, and identify how to successfully apply ML solutions to solve challenging business problems
• Run in-depth analyses by working with large and complex datasets; interpret, visualize, and communicate results to internal and external stakeholders
• Design, test and deploy ML solutions that best solve the business problem and execute seamlessly on these solutions
• Understand and design system and model architectures; knowledgeable about common software design patterns and know how to implement them, keeping maintainability, scalability and generalizability in mind
• Identify and measure success of product & ML efforts through goal setting, forecasting, and monitoring of key product metrics to understand trends
• Experience with conducting and analyzing A/B tests with various applied statistical techniques as well as making confident data-driven recommendations based on experiment results, and communicating these to stakeholders with various levels of technical knowledge
• Entrepreneurial and self-directed, demonstrate ability to tackle ambiguous problems, innovate and bias toward action in fast-paced environments
• Partner with Product, Engineering, business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to inform, influence, support, and execute product strategy and investment decisions

Required Qualifications

• BS/MS with 7+ years (or 5+ with PhD) of experience working in a technology field 
• 5+ years of experience with relational database querying languages (i.e., SQL) and advanced statistical analysis/programming languages (i.e., Python or R) 
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in programming languages (Python, Java, C++)
• Communication skills and experience influencing key stakeholders and building cross-functional partnerships
• Leadership skills in driving large complex efforts with many stakeholders to successful outcomes
• Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS/GCP
• Experience with experimentation (i.e., A/B testing experiment design)

Preferred Qualifications

• MS of PhD degree in a quantitative field
• Tech leadership experience
