Overview:

In the role of Vice President of Data and Analytics at our media company, you will be the driving force behind leveraging data to propel business and product growth, specifically tailored to the unique dynamics of the media industry. Your mission will be to craft and implement a data strategy that aligns with our objectives of maximizing revenue from diverse streams, including advertising in our digital, print, and event offerings, and growing our membership subscriptions. You will play a key role in building and optimizing our data infrastructure, while ensuring the highest standards of data security, compliance, and governance. Your expertise will be central to guiding business decisions, refining marketing and advertising strategies, enhancing our content and subscription models, and developing pricing strategies that respond to market demands and audience insights. Your leadership will be instrumental in harnessing data analytics to not only understand our audience and market trends but to also shape the future direction of our media products, ensuring our competitive edge in a rapidly evolving industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Business and Product Development:

  • Utilize data insights to guide business strategy and product development.
  • Influence pricing decisions through comprehensive market and data analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with product and marketing teams to align data-driven strategies with business goals.

Data Infrastructure Management:

  • Lead the creation and enhancement of a sophisticated data infrastructure.
  • Ensure efficient data integration and processing for in-depth analytics.
  • Continually advance data storage and management systems to support business needs.

Data and Information Security:

  • Develop and maintain rigorous data security policies and procedures.
  • Work with IT and security teams to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of data.
  • Implement proactive measures to prevent data breaches and protect sensitive information.

Data Compliance:

  • Guarantee compliance with all data protection laws and regulations.
  • Monitor evolving data privacy standards and adjust policies as necessary.
  • Conduct regular audits for legal and ethical data usage.

Data Governance:

  • Establish a data governance framework focusing on data quality, ownership, and lifecycle management.
  • Promote a company-wide culture of data literacy and accountability.

Data-Driven Decision Making:

  • Apply data analytics to refine marketing strategies and product enhancements.
  • Identify trends, opportunities, and revenue growth areas through data analysis.
  • Ensure data findings are effectively used to inform and improve business strategies.

Data & Analytics Strategy for the overall organization:

  • Build short, medium, and long term data strategy for the overall organization.
  • Identify trends, opportunities, and revenue growth areas that the organization can capitalize on through our data strategy.
  • Broadly communicate and educate our teams on this strategy and how it benefits them and their teams.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record of building and leading data and analytic teams and infrastructure in small to medium sized companies, demonstrating the ability to scale operations effectively. Ideally, the successful candidate for this role will have extensive experience in enhancing and driving data analytics in larger, established companies.
  • Demonstrated success in leveraging data analytics to drive business growth and improve operational efficiency.
  • Significant experience in managing and mentoring a diverse team of technical professionals.
  • Strong leadership skills with a history of fostering a collaborative, innovative, and results-driven work environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex data insights into actionable business strategies.
  • In-depth knowledge of data structures, big data technologies, and data modeling.
  • Proficiency in data analytics tools and platforms.
  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and advanced analytics techniques and the latest in AI technology and processes.
  • Ability to think strategically about the role of data in supporting the company's mission and objectives.
  • Experience in using data to inform marketing strategies and product development decisions.
  • Strong collaboration skills with an ability to work effectively across different departments.
  • Advanced degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field

Entirely remote jobs that could be performed in Colorado: Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $200,000 to $240,000. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission . Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, Flexible Time Away, sick leave, and more. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors
