Wonderschool is harnessing the power of technology to provide comprehensive support to child care providers operating out of their homes as well as in the government and non-profit sectors. We are looking for an Analytics Engineer (remote) to architect, build and maintain the tools and processes of Wonderschool’s data infrastructure. You will build and integrate systems and processes for internal and external consumers to better understand user behavior and marketplace dynamics now and as the company scales in the future. As a successful Analytics Engineer, you will not only integrate and implement data analysis tools, but also help define and influence key business metrics and analysis frameworks that bring the Wonderschool vision to life.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Architect, build and maintain Wonderschool’s data warehouse and processing pipelines
  • Act with initiative to analyze requirements, break down tasks, estimate, and plan development of mission critical data analysis frameworks and tools
  • Proactively communicate progress to our product team, customer success team, and company leadership
  • Become an expert in our customer workflows and the nuances of the early childcare industry
  • Debug data issues across the entire stack in a timely fashion. 
  • Establish and maintain extensive documentation on Wonderschool’s data architecture
  • Occasionally attend user interviews and onboarding sessions to give support and receive feedback directly from customers
  • Plan for and guide the company’s data infrastructure as we scale 
  • Maintain data security with respect to our PII and financial data

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of relevant professional experience as an analytics/data engineer or similar role
  • Previous experience with:
    • Version Control using Github
    • SQL
    • NoSQL databases (Firestore, MongoDB)
    • Data Warehousing (BigQuery, Snowflake)
    • ETL tools (Zapier, Stitch.io)
    • Data acquisition methods (SFTP, APIs) 
    • Python (or similar language)
  • Familiarity with BI/Analytics tools (Looker, Sisense, Tableau)
  • Fully owning and delivering data analysis features end to end, from requirements analysis and task breakdown to milestone definition and delivery
  • Working cross-functionally with product managers, engineers and customer success to ensure data infrastructure meets current and future business needs.
  • Writing high-quality, readable, maintainable code with effective test coverage; code samples or a link to a GitHub repository submitted with a resume are a big plus
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven experience managing large projects by breaking down features into bitesize deliverables.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience at a company building consumer web applications
  • Previous experience working with early stage startups
  • Previous experience working with engineering teams developing SaaS products
  • Working with a distributed team
  • Experience working at a company through periods of large growth
  • Experience with AWS (redshift, glue), Segment, Hubspot, Amplitude, Stripe
  • Project tracking using Jira
