SemanticBits is looking for a BI Analyst who is eager to use their visualization knowledge and their skills in Looker, SQL, and programming to rapidly turn data into insights. You will be part of a highly skilled team; working on high-impact government projects. We are seeking confident, self-motivated individuals to conduct this valuable work in a fully remote capacity. This position is open to a mid-level to principal professional depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

    • Five years experience working with data visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau, PowerBI or Qlik 
    • Partner with the user community to understand their needs and build engaging and actionable dashboards,reports and data analysis solutions to meet those needs.
    • Enjoys presenting insights, conclusions, alternatives and contextual information clearly and concisely
    • Excellent research, analytical, and problem solving skills
    • Ability and desire to take ownership of and initiative for analysis; from requirements clarification to deliverable
    • Comfortable understanding and analyzing models that predict the probability of an outcome
    • Capture, develop, and document data definitions, business rules, and data quality requirements.
    • Knowledge of data models, design tools, business/technical requirements, statistical programming languages, data queries
    • Demonstrable expertise crafting and debugging complex SQL statements
    • Intermediate / expert skills with SQL and basic statistics
    • Build solutions that are testable on an ongoing basis 
    • Identify improvements to existing business intelligence, reporting and data analysis.
    • Proactively build solutions that adhere to data security policies & best practices
    • Ability to identify and learn applicable new techniques independently as needed

Required Qualifications:

    • Candidate must reside in the United States currently and have resided in the United States for three out of the last five years
    • Candidate must be willing to undergo a government background check
    • Bachelor's degree in technological or related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years experience
    • Flexible and willing to accept a change in priorities as necessary
    • Experience creating engaging and actionable dashboards and reports
    • Strong understanding of relational database and data warehousing concepts (e.g. OLAP, dimensional modeling)

Nice to have:

    • Programming expertise in Python
    • Prior experience working remotely full-time
    • Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid and Alternative Payment Models
    • Experience handling PII/PHI data and understanding of HIPPA
    • Federal Government contracting work experience
    • Public trust, secret, or top secret clearance

Physical and emotional requirements for the job:

    • This position is to be performed remotely from an individual’s home office and involves sedentary work. Employees in this role can be expected to exert up to 10 pounds of force on occasion in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move standard electronic equipment. Employees are expected to make decisions in a timely manner and display emotional intelligence during occasional stressful situations.
