JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Sr. Director Data Science this role leads all facets of customer-facing finance, category, consumer, and data analytics for Green Dot’s business focused on Walmart.  This individual will be responsible for conducting all customer-specific data analytics in a proactive and responsive manner.   This data will come from multiple sources including, but not limited to Green Dot internal, Walmart POS, syndicated source, etc.  The individual is the primary, go-to person for all Green Dot Finance and business analytics reporting for use in strategic and tactical business planning, sales, marketing, and merchandising functions across multiple products and services.    This is a highly strategic role that works closely with the Walmart Team, Green Dot General Managers, Green Dot Senior Leadership, and functional teams (Business Intelligence, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain) and Walmart to deliver overall business objectives and assigned business targets.

Responsibilities

This is a remote position which will work in a fast-paced, collaborative, results-oriented environment and be responsible for:

  • Leading total data analytics for the Walmart business; financial analytics, consumer behaviors and insights; overall reporting from both an external Walmart and internal Green Dot perspective.
  • Developing key KPI metric reporting to be shared on a timely and regular basis (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually) with leaders from both Green Dot and Walmart.
  • Completing ad hoc analytics as requested by Green Dot and/or Walmart Leadership.
  • Leading as a “student of the business” for each product, and the overall GPR, Alternative Banking and Money Processing business.  Must have a passion for proactively analyzing the business, uncovering new trends, reasons for shifts in the business, answers to challenging questions, etc.
  • Transferring all learning into clear, concise and effective ways to communicate to the broader Green Dot and Walmart organizations.  Educating others to improve overall financial knowledge and results.
  • Leads in the development of impactful selling stories to be used by the broader Team to advance the business in timely and effective ways.
  • Aligning reporting with Business Intelligence, Supply Chain, and Finance Teams, working towards “One set of numbers” that the entire organization can rely on.
  • Completing pre and post event promotional analytics, helping to inform ROI positive decisions.
  • This leader will be instrumental in supporting the data analysis and delivery for Quarterly Business Reviews, Top-To-Top Meetings, Financial Reviews, etc. for each segment of the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • At least 5 years of relevant finance, category, consumer insights and data analytics experience.
  • Demonstrated success in managing large amounts of data and the ability to turn it into reports, actionable insights, and action plans.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to integrate financials with customer-specific data to bring forward holistic recommendations to advance the business for both Green Dot and Walmart.
  • Team player that thrives within white-space, demonstrated ability to deliver in challenging situations where there is a lot of different data, problem-solving and resolutions to challenges are ambiguous
  • Exceptional data management capabilities using tools such as Micro-Strategy, Retail Link, Excel and Power Point.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with an ability to influence others.
  • Ability to think strategically and tactically across multiple business units (sales, marketing, finance, business analytics, etc.).
  • Hands-on and collaborative style and a bias to action which is focused on bottom line results.
  • Ability to serve as an internal thought leader, working closely with the Walmart VP, Sr. Green Dot Executives and all cross-functional departments to maximize business opportunities with Walmart.
  • Travel required – approximately 10% of the time
