What is Slice?

Pizza is at the heart of our communities. From birthday parties to gameday potlucks, life’s special moments are bettered by the craftsmanship and tradition found behind local pizzerias’ counters. We’re here to make sure these iconic small businesses serve our communities for generations to come by giving them the digital tools and services commonly found at big chains. Can you imagine what a small mom and pop pizza shop could achieve with the resources of Domino’s?

Slice, Belfast is one of the company’s busy technology hubs and home to many of our Software specialists, Designers, Product and People Teams. We have a world class office and an office culture that is second to none, so we hire the best!

As a Business Intelligence System Specialist, you will actively monitor, maintain and support Slice’s Looker BI instance. This role will include technical responsibility for our Looker instance with 300+ users across Slice.

You will provide performance monitoring and optimisations to ensure we have a robust, optimised business intelligence platform.

What you'll do:

  • Administration tasks such as system monitoring, maintenance, dashboard and LookML migration
  • Being the first point of contact for solving any technical challenges faced by the development team
  • Optimisation of our Looker license pool to balance demand vs costs
  • Liaising with Looker support regarding scheduled upgrades including communicating with internal stakeholders to mitigate the impact
  • Provide best practice guidance to our 30+ LookML developers including overseeing the daily code review and GitHub approvals
  • Contribute to change management by performing Looker downstream impact assessments
  • Develop Looker dashboards for data management projects inc data quality reporting and data governance adoption
  • Work with DevOps team on the configuration of the Looker API to increase connectivity between systems.

You will have the opportunity to work with market-leading technology such as Databricks, AWS, Looker and Data Governance Catalogues to ensure Slice can make data-driven solutions.

Essential:

  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience of system administration or development with a Business Intelligence tool such Looker, Qlik, Tableau or Business Objects
  • Advanced SQL and strong data warehousing knowledge
  • Strong collaboration skills with technical and non-technical people
  • Experience updating and maintaining Wiki’s and Kanban (Confluence, JIRA, etc.)
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams that included data engineering, data science, software engineering, QA, product management or business units.

Desirable:

  • We understand that Looker is a relatively new BI technology so if you have 6+ months of Looker administration or LookML development experience that is a major bonus but not essential for the role
