The Opportunity:

We are looking for a junior data scientist with expertise in computer vision and machine learning who will join our AI research and development team. Your task will be to conduct research on specific high-level computer vision problems and develop efficient and scalable solutions for real-world use cases.

In this role, you will work on some of the latest cutting-edge applications of computer vision and machine learning applied to critical problems that affect businesses, governments and society. You will work with our highly experienced computer vision and machine learning team to develop innovative solutions that will open new dimensions to several challenging problems. If you are passionate to work on the challenging computer vision problems that can be solved using data and machine learning techniques, we are looking for you.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to research and development focusing on the following areas: image analysis, retrieval, classification and segmentation, deep convolutional neural networks and vision transformers, multimodal classification, unsupervised, self-supervised, semi-supervised and supervised classification techniques.
• Manage the collection and annotation of large datasets for the above-mentioned computer vision and machine learning tasks.
• Understand and implement state-of-the-art methods based on research papers and/or open source libraries, and push beyond the state-of-the-art.
• Implement efficient and scalable software systems in Python.
• Integrate implemented software components into a fully functional software pipeline, and provide verification and validation against requirements.

Must Have:

• At least 2 years experience working in Computer Vision and Machine Learning, with demonstration of sufficient accomplishment on research and development.
• Bachelor or Master degree from an accredited college/university in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or related fields (strong background with the ability to understand algorithms and methods). Some exceptions can be made depending on exceptional past accomplishments/references.
• Experience with command-line scripting, data structures, and algorithms, and the ability to work in a Linux environment, processing data in a cloud environment.
• High level skills in Python development with Numpy, OpenCV, Tensorflow, Keras, Pytorch libraries.
• Knowledge of leveraging GPU-based hardware platforms to scale vision algorithms; hands-on implementation experience a plus
• Experience on working autonomously given a problem.
• Experience on documentation and presentation of the work done.
  

Nice to Have:

• Working knowledge of AWS and other cloud services.
• Experience creating novel datasets for scientific analysis or benchmarking.
• Capability to contribute at the system architecture level to enhance scalability, testability, robustness.
• Experience with generative adversarial networks.
• Experience and top performances in online competitions / hackathons, such as, kaggle. Published research in areas related to computer vision and machine learning or its applications.
• Knowledge of state-of-the-art open-source packages supporting computer vision applications; experience benchmarking algorithms against open-source libraries a significant plus
• Record of contributions to open-source computer vision and machine learning projects a plus
