The Opportunity:

Blackbird.AI is recruiting Intelligence Analysts within the Primary Intelligence Team, supporting clients headquartered within the North-American region. The successful candidate(s) will have the opportunity to work with a pioneering team on integrated disinformation threat solutioning to deliver comprehensive insights to our clients across multiple industries.


As an Intelligence Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing millions of pieces of social media content to spot disinformation operations before, when, and how they go viral. You will investigate the disinformation networks behind them, and support the investigative and open-source intelligence (OSINT) efforts with a team of researchers and campaigners. The ideal candidate will have excellent technical skills, including social media analysis, and experience in managing and handling large unstructured sets of data. They will know how to analyze and identify behavioral patterns on social media, and as a plus be skilled at providing compelling visualizations of the data. Understanding how disinformation spreads on social platforms is ideal.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical research and analysis coordination with Blackbird.AI’s Intelligence Team.
  • Perform Analysis of both qualitative & quantitative data to assist in the identification of insights and disinformation threats and the development of client deliverables such as Intelligence Reports.
  • Responsible for quality control of qualitative and quantitative data research.
  • Provide real-time incident reporting to internal members and clients on threats to key sectors.
  • Conduct multiple-source intelligence analysis on current and emerging threats using advanced research methods and analytical techniques.
  • Support consultants in project operations where applicable i.e. preparation of research materials, report preparation and formatting, presentation slides, and other documents.
  • Analyzing trends in time series on disinformation campaigns.
  • Data aggregation, parsing, and visual data mining.
  • Support virtual/in-person client meetings as needed.

Must Haves:

  • Major in Sciences, Data Science and/or Statistics preferred
  • Has experience with most aspects of the intelligence cycle, including identifying key collection sources, evaluating raw intelligence, conducting research, performing link analysis, and preparing finished intelligence reports for different levels of stakeholders.
  • Strong skills in data analysis, with data science experience being a plus; experience in social media analysis; and handling large unstructured data sets.
  • Has effective oral and written communications skills with the ability to compose finished intelligence reports and briefings in a timely, concise and accurate manner.
  • Is able to approach information and data in an objective and rational manner, understand bias and possible relationships of importance and apply methods of examination to construct a clear and informed judgment.
  • High professionalism, self-motivation, efficiency, and results-oriented delivery on short timelines.
  • Strong proficiency in Google Suite of products.
  • Passion and commitment to freedom of speech, social change, free and fair elections, and the fight to protect democracy from disinformation.

Great to Have:

  • Experience working within crisis communications, law enforcement or intelligence communities desired.
  • Previous experience in both qualitative and quantitative project management work will be advantageous.
  • Previous experience using the following software tools will be highly advantageous:
    DevonThink Pro, Gephi, Buzzsumo, Dataminer, Spiderfoot, Airtable, Tableau, and Asana.
