Quartz Media, a global News organization, is seeking an Audience Insights Data Analyst to join our Analytics team. This newly created position will play a vital part of our new data and insights strategy. This role will take ownership of our customer data, audience insights, and will become the voice of analytics across different teams in the company. In this role, you will contribute directly to our revenue by surfacing and championing data-driven insights to our Product, Editorial, and Advertising sales teams. You will own third-party audience insights platforms, and leverage them to inform our client and drive a better understanding of how our readers engage with Quartz. You will also drive improvements in our first-party data strategy by crafting audience surveys and maintaining our first-party profile data. In short, you will become the de facto expert on Quartz readers and advocate for them across the entire organization with data-driven insights.

What You’ll Do:
- Analyze and enrich Quartz’s proprietary first-party data to generate audience insights and transform them into compelling narratives that offer nuance and unique conclusions.
- Own and maintain third-party audience research tools (Ipsos, Telmar, ComScore)
- Support the Advertising Sales team troubleshoot complex audience inquiries from advertising clients through detailed data analysis.
- Drive our member engagement survey program by creating and co-designing surveys on content consumption preferences, product testing, and general audience profile information.
- Work collaboratively across the organization with key stakeholders to inform product, marketing, and advertising strategies based on audience data and insights.
- Create and contribute to marketing materials using audience data and insights to further strengthen advertising pitch proposals.
What You’ll Bring:
- Experience with survey design techniques, statistical methods, and creating sound experimentation.
- Excellent communication skills with a strong ability to create a compelling narrative from data-driven insights.
- Able to analyze complex situations from a strategic level and execute technical analysis with precision and accuracy.
- Experience leading multiple projects simultaneously
- A strong desire constantly be improving whether it is systems, processes, or even yourself
- Excellent storytelling, communications (written and verbal), and presentation skills.
Technical Skills:
- Highly proficient in SQL; experience with Python or R a big plus.
- Comfort with statistical modeling (linear regression, logit regression, ANOVA)
- Proficiency with data visualization and database design concepts
- Experience creating dashboards and reports with business intelligence tools (Looker / Tableau)
- Experience in audience and data analytics within the media industry.
- Firm grasp of mathematical concepts and basic statistical analysis.
- Strong business tool proficiency (MS Office and Google Office tools)
