The Role

We're looking for a data advocate / data engineer at Hightouch to help engage and educate the data community. This is a 50/50 split between an advocacy and data engineering role, making it a perfect match if you’re a data practitioner with a passion to teach others and love to have real-world impact while engaging with the community.

In this role, you will be tasked with conducting exploratory data work using new data technologies and practices, building relationships with practitioners and leaders across the data space, and sharing your ideas and perspective with data engineers everywhere.

You will also be an influential internal advocate, helping shape our product roadmap and represent the needs and requirements of data teams.

You will peer review the work of our full-time Analytics Engineer, and help us maintain our internal data stack at Hightouch. People will oftentimes come to you to help answer their data questions!

A Day in the Life

  • Supports the data life cycle by collecting, transforming, and analyzing data, and communicating results in order to inform and guide decision-making.
  • Maintain and build out our internal data stack: Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, Hex, and Looker.
  • Engage, communicate and build relationships with data practitioners through multiple channels (e.g. video, content, events, meetups, open-source).
  • Meet with our customers and potential customers to understand their pain points, use cases, and desires in order to help define our product’s development
  • Anything from creating best practice content, guides, tutorials, and workshops, to creating and updating our documentation, to writing open-source software, attending events and giving talks about Reverse ETL and the Hightouch Platform
  • Working with our our product development team to build a world-class product that solves real data activation problems

Who we are looking for and what’s important to us:

  • Previous experience working with data, either as a data engineer, data analyst, or analytics engineer
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to simplify complex topics in an easy-to-digest format
  • Comfortable giving talks, developing demos, workshops, webinars, videos, and other technical content
  • Hands-on experience as a developer or using developer tools – please share projects & code you are proud of
