FreeAgent 🚀

If you’re excited about using data to have a real business impact, this could be the ideal job for you!

FreeAgent aims to remove the stress and pain of dealing with business finances. From the very beginning in 2007, our aim was to create a product that would make an impact and improve the lives of micro-businesses in the UK. Now FreeAgent is one of the UK's most popular online accounting software providers, with over 150,000 customers.

Not to blow our own horn … but AccountingWEB even named FreeAgent the top bookkeeping product of 2020 and 2021. And in 2022 we were voted ‘Friendliest Software of the Year’ at the ICB LUCA Awards. The list could go on!

It’s not just our customers who love us, our employees do too ⭐

The role 📈

We’re looking for a data analyst to contribute to our commitment to being a data-informed organisation. We rely on data to understand user behaviour, make better business decisions and help our customers to be more successful running their businesses - and you can be part of that!

You’ll join our analytics team to provide, maintain and utilise tools to inform decision making at all levels of the business. In this role you’ll have the opportunity to develop new skills while working closely with colleagues in the team and around the business. We use a wide range of tools, technologies and languages to get our work done, including (but not limited to!) Looker, Google Analytics, GTM, Firebase, Matillion, GitHub, SQL, R and Python.

You can read about how we work on our engineering blog.

Key responsibilities include:

  • creating, building, and maintaining datasets to support decision making
  • working in an agile, collaborative manner with multiple teams
  • owning and maintaining data pipelines
  • building models and forecasts of customer behaviour
  • providing insights, recommendations and other analyses

You 🙌

If you’re excited about using data to have a real business impact, this could be the ideal job for you!

Some skills we look for in candidates:

  • analysing user behaviour on the web and in native mobile apps
  • creating and querying data models using SQL
  • working with both structured and semi-structured data
  • exploring and visualising data
  • using probability and statistics to perform and support analyses
  • drawing insights from large and complex datasets
  • using hypothesis tests to create rigorous insights from data
  • working in an agile manner to continuously deliver work
  • articulating results to a broad range of audiences

Don’t worry if you don’t have experience in all these areas yet. We expect candidates to have a commitment to ongoing self-development, improving both technical and non-technical skills. If you have the commitment, we will provide opportunities to help you develop.

Perks 🎁

Our salary band for mid level is £36,050 - £50,000 per annum and for senior level £50,000 - £65,000 per annum. Salary bands are linked to performance expectations, to help nurture our culture of learning as well as fairness. A starting salary would likely leave some opportunity for growth within whichever band an offer was made.

We pride ourselves on creating a fantastic place to work, including (but not limited to!) the following:

  • 33 days holiday (and an extra day for each year you're with us)
  • Flexible/hybrid working
  • Private health care
