Data Analyst (Climate/Energy)

Come drive meaningful climate impact by analyzing heaps of never-before-seen greenhouse gas emissions data.

This role specifically supports the work we do as a founding member of Climate TRACE, a coalition of 11 organizations and former U.S. Vice President Al Gore which recently released the world’s first comprehensive emissions inventory based on objective remote sensing, not emitters self-reporting. This work furthers the concept of radical transparency and increased granularity that is how having those data successfully drives real change.

In September 2021, we released our first inventory of country level emissions data for every country in the world. This fall, we plan to release far more detailed emissions data, getting down to individual point sources of emissions. Within this data lies so much potential for impact: are certain power plants emitting more than they are reporting? What do the top 500 dirtiest steel plants have in common? How can a multinational manufacturing supply chain track their emissions using Climate TRACE data? These are all questions that many organizations are eager to begin answering with our data. We want you to be the first full-time person to dive in and begin answering them.

WattTime Analysts are a diverse group of energy experts, building experts, remote sensing experts, product managers, policy gurus and more. Analysts wear a lot of hats at WattTime - regularly completing highly technical analysis projects, communicating complex information to customers, and connecting all the dots to move a product from conception to reality. At the core of everything we do, we strive to create real world impact.

What makes WattTime unusual is our ability to do data-driven work at the scale and speed of a tech start-up with our north star on impact over all else. We’ve been up to some news-worthy efforts on this front related to marginal decision making and measuring emissions from space and working with Google Nest - it’s an exciting time.

This role offers a unique opportunity to become an expert in a small and rapidly growing field.
